I just read it in the globe, they say he is going to play OLB. Great signing, he is a spectacular player, hes played 9 posistions on defense.

He would be a great addition to the team. Being a member of the tough Ravens D, his resume is rock solid. Paying his dues as a special teams hoss for the first couple years of his career...
Did you know, he went in the 6th round of the 2000 Draft? 96th over all and because of that he wears #96 on the field?
Nice.
Welcome to the board!

AMAZING news. Thomas was my favorite player for the Ravens this year, and I was a little upset that they had to let him go. Then he goes and signs with my favorite team!
I absolutely love this deal. Thomas can play nine positions, as Kyle mentioned, but his strength is at pass-rushing OLB. He is also a great coverage linebacker, and can play safety and D-line as well as ILB. Good guy, too. He did a weekly radio show here in Baltimore, and gets along great with everybody on the team. He's the opposite of a clubhouse cancer, a great guy on the field and off.
(note: I edited the spelling error in the thread title)

He just seems to be a great all-around athelete with amazing strength...I wonder why the Ravens let him go?

$$$. Even franchising him would put them over the cap.

This also allows them to play both a 3-4 and 4-3 effectivly, because Thomas van play both very well.

Great move by the Pats, this addition provides a boost of energy to their aging defense.

I've watched the guy play for three years. He is an outstanding OLB, but barely above average as a DE, and below average as a DL. At ILB he's good too, but Vrabel and Bruschi are fine there. He should only be used at safety if there is a serious shortage. The 3-4 is easily the best fit for Thomas.
