I once went to a Bills game at Rich Stadium when I was a kid. I think they were playing the Browns. I seem to recall Joe Cribbs making a nifty catch from Joe Fergeson and kind of falling and bouncing into the endzone.
I can't remember who the agent was, but both Cribbs and Billy Sims were supposed to bolt the NFL for the USFL. Cribbs did go, but Sims decided at the last moment to stay in Detroit. The ovation he received that Sunday is still the loudest I have ever heard for an individual player during introductions.
I thought Cribbs was great. But like too many early 80's star backs, his career was all too short. Those Bills teams, with Ferguson and Cribbs and Bob Chandler, were fun to watch. They were finally more than just hand it to OJ and let McKenzie and DeLamielleure do their things.

The work of Chuck Knox. First it was the Rams, then the Bills, then he worked his magic with the Seahawks too. Only drawback was he never did win the Whole Enchilada with anyone.

Remember Joe Delany? He was an early 80s RB with the Chiefs. Rookie year was '81 I believe. Drowned trying to rescue another swimmer who was drowning sometime after the '82 season if I remember correctly. He was going to be a superstar for the Chiefs.
:(
