What current players do you think will make the HOF? I think this is tougher to judge in Football then baseball. For this purpose, "current" means played at least one game in 2006
Here is my list, I'm sure I'm leaving some people off:
Running Backs:
Shaun Alexander - need a couple more years, but should get there
Tiki Barber
Edgerrin James
LaDainian Thomlinson - I stil think he needs another good year or two, but he should easily get there
Quarterbacks
Tom Brady
Brett Favre
Peyton Manning
There are other good young quarterbacks out there that may make it, but they all have a ways to go.
Testaverde and Bedsoe will be intersting as they are 6th and 7th all-time in yards passing, but I think they both fall short
Wide Receivers:
Isaac Bruce
Marvin Harrison
Torry Holt
Terrell Owens
Tight Ends
Tony Gonzalez
Other
My "non-skilled player" knowledge is lacking, so I am not going to speculate on lineman or defensive players or speciality teams, but I would be interested to here what others think.
Ray Lewis, Junior Seau and Michael Strahan Immediately come to mind on the defensive side. Strahan is not as much a lock as the former 2, but his shot is legit.
Is Tony Boselli still playing? I think Randy Moss is blowing his shot. He needs to get back to a premium level.

Walter Jones is probably the best OL in the game... maybe not HoF, but the best today. Jonathan Ogden too.

Ogden, that's who I was thinking of but couldn't remember his name. Jones took a little bit to earn that reputation (and he did earn it) so he will have a tougher go than Ogden, a star from the start.

No Randy Moss, Larry Johnson, or Steve McNair?

Randy Moss needs to do something to boost his candidacy back up, because right now, he isn't sure-fire.
Larry Johnson doesn't come close right now. I still think he's Jamal Lewis in his prime. Which is not HoF.
Steve McNair is not quite there. IF he had led the Ravens to a Super Bowl this year, or the Titans when he had a chance, he might be more in the discussion. Now, not so much.

Wow, I think you summarized my thought exactly. Unless Moss steps it up again, I'll always think of him as wasted talent.
One other person I'd add to my list is Vinatieri. Kickers are a tough category to predict, but the press loves this guy, so I can see him getting in. However, kickers last a long time, and he needs to stay around to get higher on the all-time scoring list (and avoid a prolonged slump). He is currently only half way or so to Morten Anderson (who will also make the HOF).

Anderson should. Vinatieri has a good shot, should he stick around. No reason to think he won't.
I'm still kind of shocked Jan Stenerud made it his first time as a finalist. No other kicker has come close since. Of course, a few of the kickers who have excelled since Stenerud aren't eligible yet because they lasted forever (Both Andersons, Norm Johnson).
Brian Urlacher is a guy who will probably make it. And Zach Thomas is a guy who keeps getting written off, but he keeps producing on the defensive side of the ball. Derrick Brooks is a standout. Champ Bailey could get there, as could Ed Reed. Dropoffs in the NFL can be quite sudden.

It's still fairly early, but does anyone think Shawne Merriman might be destined for Canton?
