The Pac 10 football writers have once again voted USC as the favorite to win the Pac 10 title, thats no surprise. The surprise is that Cal was rated a very close second. The UCLA Bruins my favorite team, was picked to finish fifth in the conference. That is no surprise either, the Bruins lost a lot of offensive firepower to the NFL, and thheir defense has to prove that they can be consistant. It should be a wide open conference this year.

Not sure why you were surprised Cal was rated a very close second. I am actually expecting Cal to end the season as the Pac 10 champs this year. They have proven that they can play with, and beat USC. As long as they can avoid hitting a speed bump, this could be a very good year for them.

I know the Huskies will at least make it to the Apple Bowl. I like Cal to win it too.

The Pac 10 is always loaded with land mines, and almost every conference game is a rivalry game.I guess I have to take another look at Cal. I don't expect any team to be undefeated in the conference this season.

I've always enjoyed Pac-10 football. As a Big Ten fan I love the tough "three yards and a cloud of dust" style in the Big Ten, but I also enjoy the Pac-10. The style is very open, with any team the ability to defeat any other team, very clean well manicured fields and some great football settings if not always huge crowds. Autzen Stadium in the fog is just amazing. And I always have loved seeing football in Arizona. Plus the Rose Bowl...

But as for actual picks, I would bet Cal will finish on top, USC and UCLA a little under, USC may even finish with only one loss but I'd assume they'll be a little down. As for sleepers, I'd say Washington State (lost 4 games last year by some rediculously small margin) and Arizona (put up 52 points on previously undefeated UCLA). Plus I just like the Wildcats.
