For those that haven't heard, Legendary Raiders Coach/Announcer/Video Game Mogul John Madden will be inducted into the NFL HOF this year. For you younger lads, yes John Madden was a real coach at one point, lol. Madden coached 10 yrs with the Raiders, never finished lower than 2nd in the Division, and only missed the playoffs twice. As a matter of fact, he never lost more than 4 regular season games in a season, until 1978 (his final season). He still went 9-7 that year. I believe he only did that "poorly" due to his poor health at the time, I know he was battling an ulcer at the time from all the stress. For those that never got to see Madden pacing a sideline, it was a sight to see, lol. Often pacing up and down the sideline, pumping his arms, screaming, etc. Madden holds the record for highest winning percentage with at least 100 victories.

Madden's Coaching reord:

Year Reg Seas. Win Pct. Playoffs Division Finish
1969 12-1-1 0.923 1-1 1st - AFL West
1970 8-4-2 0.643 1-1 1st - AFC West

It's about time John Madden got into the Hall of Fame. Now it's time for Tom Flores to follow him into Canton. Flores is probably the least known NFL heach coach with 2 Superbowl Championships.

Tom Flores Head Coaching Record:
___________________________________
1987 NFL Los Angeles Raiders 5-10
1986 NFL Los Angeles Raiders 8-8
1985 NFL Los Angeles Raiders 12-4
1984 NFL Los Angeles Raiders 11-5
1983 NFL Los Angeles Raiders 12-4
1982 NFL Los Angeles Raiders 8-1
1981 NFL Oakland Raiders 7-9
1980 NFL Oakland Raiders 11-5
1979 NFL Oakland Raiders 9-7
______________________________
Regular Season
83 Wins, 53 Loses -- .610 Winning Percentage
Post-Season
1980 Superbowl Championship
1983 Superbowl Championship

That with interception machines Jim Plunkett and Marc Wilson at QB. Marcus Allen wasn't even in his unproductive rookie season until Flores' fourth year as head coach. He also had to handle the transition from Oakland to Los Angeles.

It's great that Madden got in after waiting so long but it's ludicrous that Flores has to wait now too.

You dont have to sell me on Flores, lol. He was also a pretty good QB in his day. I believe what has really hurt Tom though, is the 3 years he coached Seattle from 92-94. They went 2-14 in 92, and 6-10 in 93 and 94. That brought Tom's coaching record to 97-87. Still a pretty respectable record, throw in 2 Superbowl wins in 1980 and 1983, and its really good. But I think those 3 years he came back in Seattle really hurt him. Flores not only won the Superbowl as a coach, but also as a player, he was Lenny Dawson's back up on the Chiefs when they won in 70.
