According to sources close to Bentley the injury was a potentially season-ending injury to his patellar tendon, ESPN.com's John Clayton reported. Bentley was in the process of getting an MRI to determine whether it is a partial or total tear.

I thought the Browns had a chance to finish around .500 this year. This would be a big blow if he's down for the year.

EDIT: Bentley is out for the season with a torn patellar tendon and will undergo surgery.

Love the Browns, could have seen them being very very good and a sleeper this year with a young talented team, built like the '05 Indians. This is sad and very disappointing, especially because Bentley was one of my favorite Ohio State players back in '01.

Think Kellen Winslow will make it through the year? Think Braylon Edwards will even start the year? It must suck to be a Browns fan.

I watched their preseason game against the Eagles yesterday and their starting Charlie Frye is awful! Watching him play yesterday was the first and only time I've ever actually "felt bad" for a player on another team. I was awash with sympathy for him. But he's going to need more than sympathy cause he can't play for, well, you know that other Brown stuff ....

I'd be happy to see Braylon Edwards off the team. As talented as he is I can't stand to see a Michigan player play in a state whose fans hated him in college so much. Frankly I'm surprised the Browns took him in the draft.
