I don't know how respected Mike O'Hara is in Detroit but I just read his Q&A column and in it he suggested that it's looking ever more likely that Millen will retain his job as president going into next year (read the column here (http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061226/SPORTS08/612260383/1004/SPORTS)).
The team in 23-72 since he took over as President, what does he have to do before the Fords fire him? This is ridiculous!!!!!

Apparantly Millen's first six seasons were declared a mulligan by the owner. Somehow Millen has been able to convince the Fords that the team is "this close" to breaking through and that progress is being made. It's a slap in the face of the over-loyal fan base that a team can be this terrible, become such a national laughingstock year after year in a league of true parity and nothing be done to correct it besides deploying the old smoke-and-mirrors trick and ugly make-up work. Through six seasons, Matt Millen's biggest FA acquisition has been Dre Bly, who hasn't been effective for the past two seasons, and his best draft has given him a talented-yet-underachieving running back and a WR who flaps his yap like TO.
It truly is a crying shame that Millen is most likely going to be given another season, but with the ownership we have, it's certainly not surprising. We can only hope that Bill Ford Jr., who's adamantly against retaining Millen, can cry loud enough to his daddy that he'll get his way and someone else will put their stamp on our latest "franchise" draft pick.
