Athough they haven't been the team they should have been, suprisingly enough they still have playoff chances at 7-8. Them and the Packers are in the race for the no.6 seed in the playoffs (They both have better conference records than the Panthers, Rams, and Redskins). Basically the Giants will clinch the playoffs with a win next week against the Redskins.
What are your thoughts will the Giants do it?
I've got an odd feeling that they will beat the Skins this week, despite how inconsistent they have been throughout the year they will be playing meaningful games (hopefully only one game-- they look like being matched up vs the Eagles) in January.

I have to say yes, but this team is not ready for the playoffs.
Even if they lose, they can still make the playoffs. There is not another 7-8 team that is even close to being a lock to win this week. That would be embarrassing if all 5 teams lose and the giants sneak in.

Michael Strahan was placed on the IR today. That is certain to hurt the team if they do make the playoffs. I'm not familiar with all the scenarios but if the Giants only have to win in week 17 to get in, I think they'll fail.
To me this game comes down to Ladell Betts and Tiki Barber -- which one wants it more? Doesn't seem to me like Tiki is too interested in even playing anymore (based on his last press conference). Betts on the other hand is trying to prove that he's a No. 1 running back in this league.
At QB there also seems to be this sense of entitlement by Eli Manning -- like he deserves to be there just based on his last name and all the hype. While Jason Campbell, also a first round pick, is playing like the player Eli is supposed to be.
The fact that the Packers could be in the playoffs if the Giants lose and the Pack win is frightening. It is sad how pathetic the NFC has become.

Congratulations to the New York Giants, 2006 NFC Wild Card winners!
It was improbably but they're in the playoffs thanks to an amazing performance by Tiki Barber -- 230 something yards and three touchdowns.
Next week the Giants play either or the Cowboys or the Eagles -- either on the road.
If they get the Eagles and Tiki plays like this again, the Giants get out in front early and the clock strikes 12 on Jeff Garcia -- the G-Men might even win a game. But I don't think so. No 8-8 team has ever won a playoff game.
[This officially saves Tom Coughlin's job, which is probably very good for Eli Manning's career. This is not the stage in Eli's career to have him learn an entirely new offense and deal with a new coaching staff.
Coughlin seems to have softened enough to inspire his team. Manning will get better and the Giants should be able to nab someone like Marshawn Lynch, RB, California or Kenny Irons, RB, Auburn in the draft to sure up the tail back spot with Brandon Jacobs. Plaxico and Shockey should only get better.
Arrington and Strahan come back next season and the Giants will likely bring in some help on the defense via free agency -- they'd be smart to look at another N.Y. team's CB, Nate Clements of the Bills. Clements is a two time Pro Bowl cornerback and could greatly improve the Giants secondary.
And the Eagles and Cowboys get a year older, that can only be good.]
Things are looking bright in N.Y.

This officially saves Tom Coughlin's job
Are you sure about that? A first round loss maynot be enough to save him, particularly if they fall flat. I like Couglin, but he has clearly lost this team. I don't think a change will be bad.
