Did anybody else catch this classic on ESPN Classic? I TiVoed it so I can watch it over and over. Billed as the Game of the Century, I believe it lives up to its name. The #1 Cornhuskers beat the #2 Sooners 35-31 on Thanksgiving Day, 1971. 35 years later, this is still a great game to watch. The highlight of the game has to be Johnny Rodgers' punt return TD to give the Huskers a 7-3 lead in the first quarter. 4 or 5 guys actually put hands on him, and almost everybody had a chance to get him, but a few electric moves and a lightning strike later, Rodgers was standing in the endzone.

Hadn't read about that game but sounds like it was quite a classic. In the Big 12 those rivlaries can really get fierce with little else to do but watch football. For some reason I can't get onto CFBDW right now but I'd be interested to see all the different win/loss totals and game results from the OU/NB rivalry. I remember vividly OU's 20-10 win in 2000 as a real shocker.

I saw it in 71 and Ive seen it on ESPN Classic a few times. To put it simply it was the greatest game I have ever seen, probably the greatest ever.
An interesting note-The final top 3 in the AP poll that year was
1. Nebraska
2.Oklahoma
3. Colorado
You will probably never see the top three teams all come from the same conference again. and that was an 8 team conference bacik then.
