We could make this a tradition if we wanted to. We don't need sports writers to tell us who the rookies of the year were. You can decide yourself. Who do you think deserves to be the PSF 2007 Offensive Rookie of the Year?

The LBs
DeMeco Ryans, MLB, Houston: 113 Tackles, 3.5 Sacks, 1 INT, 3 Pass Defenses, 1 Forced Fumble.

Kamerion Wimbley, OLB, Cleveland: 47 Tackles, 7.5 Sacks, 1 Pass Defense, 2 Fumble Recoveries.

Ernie Sims, OLB, Detroit, 101 Tackles, 0.5 Sacks, 1 Pass Defense, 1 Forced Fumble.

A.J. Hawk, OLB, Green Bay: 103 Tackles, 3.5 Sacks, 5 Pass Defenses, 1 Forced Fumble, 2 Fumble Recoveries.

The DL
Mark Anderson, DE, Oakland: 8 sacks, 1 Pass Defense, 3 Forced Fumbles.

Tamba Hali, DE, Kansas City: 45 Tackles, 5 Sacks, 1 Pass Defense, 4 Forced Fumbles.

Elvis Dumervil, DE, Denver: 7 Sacks, 2 Fumble Recoveries.

The DBs
Dawan Landry, SS, Baltimore: 56 Tackles, 2 Sacks, 3 INT, 1 TD, 3 Pass Defenses.

Richard Marshall, CB, Carolina: 49 Tackles, 3 INT, 1 TD, 9 Pass Defenses.

Who is the PSF 2006 Defensive Rookie of the Year going to be? You decide.

Not Mario Williams. To me it's Ryans, but Anderson, Hawk, and Dumervil come close.

No, I didn't include Super Mario -- cause he just isn't super yet. But if anyone else wants to make a case for him, feel free.

I'm also leaning towards Ryans. But the discussion and season goes on. I probably won't vote until the season ends. Both ROY polls are open till well after the end of the regular season.

Under the other category: Clint Ingram, linebacker for the Jaguars, also deserves consideration. Ingram has a sack, an interception, a pass defense and 50 tackles.

Donte Whitner, strong safety, for the Bills should be in the discussion as well. He has 73 tackles, an interception and 3 pass defenses.

Whitner has done well and was instrumental in stopping the Jets wideouts today. He definetly deserves consideration.

Anybody think Devin Hester should get some votes? He's a CB for the Bears but not a starter. His real talent is on special teams in the return game -- usually considered part of defense.

Hester has six touchdown returns on the season. That's amazing. But amazing enough to get rookie of the year?

If there were "Special Teams Rookie of the Year", he'd win in a landslide. Defensive... I don't know.
