Lamont Jordan injured his MCL and will now be out for the year. If you thought things couldn't get any worse for the year, you were wrong. Robert Gallery also is out after dislocating his elbow. No prognosis yet on when he will return. We now have to rely on Huggy Bear Jr. to tote the rock. In his short time in the NFL, he hasn't really shown me anything yet. I doubt he will now. This may just have solidified the #1 draft pick for us come April.

Snake I think things have to get worse before they get better.
I'm wondering what you think about Robert Gallery. He was the No. 2 overall pick in the draft a few years back and it just seems to me that he hasn't delivered on his potential. Now he's injured again.
As for LaMont, I'm not really sure he was ever meant to be a starter. I realized he cracked a 1,000 yards rushing last year, but just barely.
At 2-8 the Raiders are tied with the Lions and Cardinals for the worst record in the NFL. I have to think the Raiders are the favorites to get the first pick in next years draft. If they do get that pick, do you think they should try to trade down and accumulate picks to fill the team's many gaping holes?

Robert Gallery- For me, the jury is still out on him. I saw him play in college, and he truly dominated. He has the body size, strength, etc to do same in NFL. However, due to injuries of other personnel, he has spent the majority of his time out of his normal position. Then there is the fact that he has sustained a few injuries himself. I am hoping that next year, it all "click" and come together for him. Sometimes this happens, sometimes it doesn't. I definately do not see him as another Tony Mandarich though.
The smart thing to do for the Raiders would be to trade down and acquire more picks to help in rebuilding. Their major needs are the O line , RB, and QB. The defense is actually pretty good, they just spend way too much time out on the field. As much as I would love them to draft Quinn with the number 1 pick, I don't think that is the smartest thing to do. He would have no one to protect him, and no one to hand the ball off to. Bad times all around. They could still pick up someone like Troy Smith lower in the draft, and get an extra pick or 2 to invest in the line. Of course, all that could be moot. We could just draft the fastest DB available as usual :p

What do you think of Art Shell? There is the whole Jerry Porter situation -- which Shell didn't exactly help. Randy Moss has become a non-factor under his tenure. (Before Moss came to Oakland he was a five time Pro Bowl selection and Moss is not over the hill.)
There will be some "good" free-agent QBs on the market this off-season. It might make sense to sign one of them and then draft someone like OT Joe Thomas or OT Sam Baker to block for him. (That could take a lot of stress off Robert Gallery to have to be the left tackle. Thomas or Baker are both talented enough to handle that position.) Then the team could wait on picking either Marshawn Lynch or Michael Bush in the second round -- both of whom I think could be available with the 33rd pick.
The absolute worst thing this team could do is draft Calvin Johnson. I know he looks like the next Tim Brown but he could just as easily turn into the next Charles Rogers.
And there's more bad news on the horizon....CB Leon Hall of Michigan is climbing higher and higher on draft boards and you know Al Davis. This could be your worst nightmare coming true again. And keep an eye on junior CB Darrelle Revis of Pittsburgh -- he's going to wow everybody at the combine.
