Philadelphia Eagles franchise QB Donavan McNabb was injured today. He did something to his ACL and is out for the rest of the season. Back-up Jeff Garcia is expected to be the starter.

MADDEN CURSE!!! But that's just unfortunate, second year in a row he goes down to a season ending injury. I think Jeff Garcia can replace him well enough to lead the Eagles to the playoffs.

I believe this knocks the Eagles out of the playoffs, at 4-5 right now without their best player. That is not a recipe for sucess.

This is the third time since 2002 that this has happened to McNabb. I'm glad Garcia is in town but from what I hear Andy Reid might start A.J. Feeley next week -- whick would likely be a collosal mistake.
Kearse and now McNabb on the IR is tough but at least it's not like last year when Westbrook and McNabb were on or about to go on the IR by this point in the season.
9-7 might be good enough to get a wild card in the NFC and that's only a 4-2 record the rest of the way. I think Garcia can do that. Afterall, he is a three time Pro Bowl QB.
But yeah, I'm getting really sick of seeing this happen seemingly every year. And if McNabb has the same sort of knee and ACL injury that Daunte Culpepper had last year -- who knows when or if McNabb will even be ready or able to come back in 2007.
Culpepper was rushed back and everybody was talking about how amazing his recovery was until he started to play and it was obvious he was still hurt. The same kind of thing could play out with McNabb.
The Eagles, however, have definitely had their chances: four straight NFC Conference games; one Superbowl appearance. Maybe that run is over now. The media and the fans in this town are all about "what have you done for me lately" and if the Eagles finish up 6-10 again, I just know there are going to be sports writers and myriads of fans calling for Reid's head.
