Does anyone know if the bears actually thought of moving the old soilder field facade that they still have up in the new stadium?

I love the new part of the stadium and I love the old part, but they are not the best together. Didn't know if anyone thought hey this might look good elsewhere or if that was never even a thought.

I've actually wondered if the Bears would do this. The inside of Soldier Field is outstanding and stands as one of the better facilities in the NFL. The outside? That's a different story. The stadium has already lost its historic landmark status, so I would think it'd be smart for the team to just take the original facade, move it and then build a modern outer portion than incorporates into the new facility. Really, it'll be interesting to see if this ever happens.

Before the Bears got the deal done to renovate Soldiers field, they struggled mightily about what to do with a stadium. That included considering building a field in Gary, Ind.. which would have been cheaper, but unsound politically.
So, one of the selling points on getting the deal done was the keeping of the facade, which was in part a political as well as a fiscal move.

However, I would agree that the inclusion doesn't lend itself to a pleasing building. But there would be an outcry should the Bears try and do anything about it.

Great story henry, I always thought it would be a hard choice. Baseball had/has the same issue with stadiums over 50 years old and almost 100 years old in some cases. Do you get rid of any remains like tiger stadium and comiskey or do you keep part of it like some of the yankee fans want to do with gate 2.

I think I get it though, the bears did something very unique because they were in a rock and a hard place and I guess it does make more sense to have what they have than keeping the old or only using the new.

Were the views at old solider field as bad as say they rose bowl?

This place is indeed the new "Mistake by the lake".

I understand what the architect was trying to do here, but I think the overall execution of it fell extremely short.

But the biggest mistake about this place was the fact that it reduced the seating capacity in order to preserve the old exterior of Soldier field.

The third largest city in the country built a brand new stadium that is one of the smallest, capacity-wise, in the league.

I thought they lost seats because of the luxary boxes and suites not because of the shortage of room to use. But if thats not the case yeah big waste.

You think the Bears had a problem, the problem the Cubs have with Wrigley Field is 100 times worse. But that's more of a Baseball Fever type subject!
