Which were the best uniform overhauls?
I'm talking major fundamental changes. Not minor incremental tweaks like adding piping to the jersey one year, or a stripe to the pants, or even going from white to dark color pants or what have you. I mean complete departures from previous versions of the uniform. I'm also going to ignore some of the very early AFL unis like the Jets, Broncos, and Bills that only lasted for one season or so.
Steelers 1963: Switch from yellow helmets to black, retain the experimental logo on only one side of the helmet.
Rams 1973: Switch from blue & white color combo with white "horns" on the helmets to a yellow, blue & white color combo with yellow "horns" on the helmets.
Bills 1974: Standing bison to charging bison on the helmet.
Giants 1976: Switch from NY on the helmets to GIANTS.
Jets 1978: Major change from original-style design, white helmets to green helmets, new logo.
Bengals 1981: Switch from block lettering of "BENGALS" on the helmets to tiger stripes. Tiger stripes added to the uniform.
Bills 1984: White helmet to red helmet.
Falcons 1990: Switch from red helmets to black.
Patriots 1993: White helmet with Pat Patriot hiking the ball to silver helmet with Flying Elvis logo, dramatic emphasis to blue instead of red.
Broncos 1997: Fundamental redesign of helmet & logo. Fundamental shift from emphasis on orange to blue.
Buccaneers 1997: Switch from creamsicle-orange uniforms with white helmets to pewter and red uniforms with pewter helmets.
Jets 1998: Switch back to unis that more closely resemble their original style. Back to a white helmet from a green helmet.
Giants 2000: Switch back to more traditional design. Helmet logo reverts to NY instead of GIANTS.
