Jason Campbell, the 25th overall pick in the first round of the 2005 draft, will make his professional debut this Sunday (11/19). Campbell played at Auburn in his college days.

Clinton Portis broke his hand in the first quarter of last Sunday's loss to the Eagles, sinking the Redskins to 3-6 on the season. Apparently that caused Joe Gibbs to finally give up on the season, and Mark Brunell -- who's career as a starter is likely over.

Campbell likely represents a significant upgrade at the QB position, even if he is technically a rookie. And a lot of people, me among them, have been waiting for years to see what he can do in the NFL.

Given the chance, who would you start at QB for the skins?

Campbell is the man to start.

Heh, Gibbs saw that it worked for Parcells, so he figured he may as well give it a go as well. I would probably move to Campbell at this point as well. The season is basically over for them, may as well get Campbell the actual game experience that he needs so he will be ready for next season and beyond.

Campbell made his first start on the road against an aging but still dangerous Tampa Bay defense. He lit them up, tossing two touchdowns and producing a 92.3 QB Rating. His second start earned him his first win, defeating a potent defense, Carolina, throwing two more touchdowns and puting his season QB Rating at 85.0.

I'd say Campbell's career is off to a stellar start. With five more starts this season and none against particularly good defenses, he should be able to put up some decent numbers and maybe lead the Redskins on an end of the season winning spree. One thing is certain, with Campbell at the helm this is not a team you want to play in December.
