Zorn Fired!

After the Redskin's pathetic performance at home versus the Chiefs today, (18 Oct. '09), I don't think there can be any more doubt about what has to happen in Washington.

Jim Zorn must be fired. The entire coaching staff must be revamped, again. Daniel Snyder needs to give up more control of football operations to competent individuals.

Before the team shot itself in the foot this spring with all the speculation about acquiring a new starting quarterback, it was briefly looking like a vastly improved team.

Nose tackle Albert Haynesworth, was the biggest get of the free agent class, cornerback DeAngelo Hall re-signed, offensive guard Derrick Dockery signed -- three players for $180,000,000.

Then right tackle Jon Jansen was cut/retired, offensive guard Randy Thomas was put on injured reserve, left tackle Chris Samuels is out for the year but not officially on the IR.

The offensive line and offense have fallen apart.

Could the injuries have been prevented, maybe not. But a lot more could have been done to sure up the offensive line in the draft and via free agency, for the past several seasons.

Clearly the Campbell controversy could have been completely avoided had Snyder not been so public about wining and dining Mark Sanchez prior to the draft, after indicating he and Zorn wanted to acquire Jay Cutler. Today's benching of Campbell for TODD COLLINS is a colossal blunder! For that decision alone Zorn needs to go, and now.

Outside of Oakland, and perhaps St. Louis, Washington is the worst run organization in the NFL and it is time to clean house.

Jim Zorn has been officially stripped of play calling duties after the Redskin's latest loss. He remains head coach, for now. It has not been announced yet who will call plays until Zorn's inevitable termination.

Why not just make him the interim head coach? Instead he's just going to call all of the plays . . .

Sherm Lewis is now calling offensive plays for the Redskins, instead of Zorn -- now officially a dead man walking -- who the team announced it will terminate at the end of the season.

BTW . . . Lewis would have been a great choice for head coach in 1999 -- 2009 :confused:, not so much.

Toss out Zorn and Campbell with the rest of the garbage, spend some money in the off-season on offensive linemen and hire Charlie Weis as head coach then draft the franchise: Jimmy Clausen!

Vinny Cerrato is gone. Bruce Allen is now in control, although only time will tell how much Snyder meddles. Jim Zorn and Jason Campbell are dead men walking. Mike Shanahan could be in place as the new head coach by the combine. It was a tough season in Washington. But I hope this new guy can right the ship, doesn't that sound familiar.

Again this is the heart of the problem. The cancer in the organization. It's not Zorn's fault. It won't matter who coaches the Redskins if Snyder's in charge. Gibbs was the only one with any kind of small modicum of success under Snyder, and he got out while the gettin' was good because Snyder was completely driving him up the wall.

I really think the o-line is a big problem for the Skins. Campbell plays well when the line holds up. I think he can go to another team and flourish.

It's official Zorn has been fired. Redskins will move on to their SEVENTH coach since Snyder took over in 1999. Honestly I don't know why anyone would want to coach there. It's a coaching meat grinder. Snyder chews 'em up and spits 'em out one after the other. Probably the only worst coaching gig in the league is the Raiders.

Everybody is dropping the name Mike Shanahan to be Snyder's next savior-in-chief. That's why Bruce Allen was hired as GM, right? I'm not sure that's a good idea.

In NFL history, no head coach has ever lead more than one franchise to Superbowl victories. In fact, only Don Shula, Dan Reeves, Bill Parcells and Mike Holmgren have even taken two different franchises to Superbowl appearances. Will Mike Shanahan be the man to change that? History says no.

Here's a crazy name out of the past who might just want to prove he was more than a San Francisco fluke: Steve Mariucci. He might be able to fix the failed Jim Zorn experiment and salvage Jason Campbell's career.

But the pricey, sexy, flashy, stupid move will probably be made instead. After all, we are discussing Daniel Snyder.

And that is Snyder's Achilles' Heel! You have to think that with a certified genius now in charge, Mike, that Daniel will have more patience. But one probably could have said that about Marty, too. And that didn't exactly turn out well.

I hope Mike can be successful. I am sick of Washington being awful. Once upon a time, I really enjoyed Redskins vs. Eagles games.

There was nothing wrong with the choice of Zorn to be H.C. in reality. Why would there be? Because he played and coached in Seattle? As if that is some kind of inferior NFL resume? Gimmie a break!
