A nice 20-16 win for the 49ers over the Cardinals yesterday. The defense was stout and solid. The offense needs work. Why did Singletary keep running Frank Gore up the middle just to get stuffed? This will be an interesting season.

It's very early yet, but the 49ers going into Arizona and winning on the road against the division champs makes me think it might come down to Seattle and San Francisco for the division this year. Depends on what team stays healthy the best. And, is Hill a playoff-caliber QB? Their defense must be pretty good.

Winning 28-0 is always a great, great thing in the NFL, but I really don't know how much of a test the Rams were. If the Seahawks go into San Francisco next week and win on the road then we'll know a lot more.

I was really surprised at how badly the Niners ran the ball. This was supposed to be a strength, yet that obviously wasn't the case. But kudos to the team for finding a way to win a division game on the road when you aren't playing particulary well.

Uh, I guess they got that fixed this week. Frankie goes nuts for over 200 yards! 2-0 Baby!

Another solid win by the 49ers. Frank Gore almost had a career day with just the third 200-yard rushing game by a 49er running back eve. And Gore has two of the three (Charlie Garner has the other). I'm cautiously optimistic about this season so far.

Wow, the 49ers destroyed the hapless Rams. At 3-1 this season has been a pleasant surprise for sure. We'll see how this season progresses.

Singletary is the man for the 49ers! Their defense is great!

I think more importantly than anything else that has happened this season, the 49ers have finally found their quarterback: Alex Smith.

With weapons like Michael Crabtree, Vernon Davis, Frank Gore and Glen Coffee now on the roster, Smith and the 49ers can put up some points. The team is 5-6, not least because both offensive tackles, LT Joe Staley and RT Tony Pashos, have both missed a considerable amount of time.

Still the 49ers should knock the Seahawks out of the air today and go to 6-6.

The defense is looking solid. The linebackers are dangerous. The secondary is deep. The QB is established. The offense has weapons. Sign a guard via free agency and draft a few offensive tackles and the this team will dominate the NFC West through out the '10s. :candle:

Kurt Warner can't play forever! The future is bright.

The weird part of this season is that despite a few fluke games, this team can't run the ball...and I know that's driving Singletary nuts. Fact is, this team has a lot of talent in WR and TE and Alex is finally having some success passing the ball. Yet Gore is having a painful year on the ground, and that's bass-ackwards from what the team has stated it wants to do.

Well, sometimes ya just have to play with the cards yer dealt, and if that means pass first, run second, so be it.

Despite the issues, I'll be satisfied with an 8-8 season.

The Seahawks run defense is pretty good this year. I don't feel too bad about it. In fact, they have only made two obviously lousy plays this year, the two 80-yarders to Gore in the first game. That might have been because we had a heap of injuries on the D at that time.
