Well, the new season is almost upon us.
Of course, it's unwise to put too much stake in what happens in the pre-season. But it dosent look all that good. This has the makings of a pretty boring team. And a lousy boring team, wich is a bad combo. Thankfully, we have the best, smartest coach the world as ever seen, all sports combined (dixit Josh McDaniels). a man who doesent need a good QB to win. Allow me to repeat myself: He has put a ton of pressure on himself. That's what he wanted, now he has to deliver. I don't believe this team will make the playoffs, but considering the situation, anything under a playoff berth, and at least a playoff win, I will consider a failure. And with the tremendous power I yield as a poster on this site, I will ask for the firing of Josh McDaniels. When you act the way he did, you HAVE to win immediately.
And a good season to everyone!

I don't think that he has to win this year, because he has a young team, and I don't see Bowlen firing him this year, but he better win in 2010, or he definitely could be gone. This guy is betting on the Patriot Way, and he better be successful.

It's feast or famine in Denver, win six straight games to open the season and then toss away the next four matches, including a clobbering by in-division rival San Diego.
And while Brandon Marshall and Knowshon Moreno act like fifth-graders on a playground the rest of the team is forgotten. Eddie Royal seems an after thought. Brandon Stokley, pay no mind. Daniel Graham is only used for blocking and without an arm to reach him, Tony Scheffler is not relevant.
Which brings us directly to the problem: Kyle Orton. Oh yes his completion percentage and passer rating might look okay but he simply does not have the arm required to utilize this team's talent. This is a team built on bullets and burners! And the Broncos are fresh out of bullets.
As for firing the smartest head coach to ever live after only 10 games in the NFL, that seems a tad pre-mature. But then again, so does he.
Of course if the Broncos get on another hot streak and ride it into the playoffs, I'll completely redact this post.

The Broncos are 7-4 and playing in Arrowhead Stadium against perhaps the only team that has under performed more than Denver, the 3-8 Kansas City Chiefs.
This weather is apparently gusty. This bodes poorly for Matt Cassel and much worse for Kyle Orton! It seems these two need only to not turn the ball over and let the elusive and powerful Jamaal Charles take on the so far disappointing Knowshon Moreno.
To me this game comes down to which defensive line has a better game: KC NT Ron Edwards and DEs Tyson Jackson and Glenn Dorsey or DEN NT Ronald Fields, DEs Ryan McBean and Kenny Peterson. I'm picking Kansas City if that's the match up. :twocents:

After putting up 245 yards rushing on 5.4 yards per carry, the Broncos crushed the Chiefs at Arrowhead today. Knowshon Moreno scored twice. Correll Buckhalter? Where were you during your six or so years in Philly? 12 carries and 113 yards, Correll, that's just straight up shredding a defense.
Cassel's two picks didn't help but then again, neither did Jamaal Charles 3.1 yards an attempt.
I still think this team is mediocre. But but they won a divisional game on the road and that's always good.
Oh yeah, and Daniel Graham as caught two touchdowns in the last two weeks! Welcome back to the NFL Graham! I was wondering if you forgot how to catch a ball for a while there.

Today's Broncos vs. Chiefs rematch (1/3/10) didn't go as well for the Broncos as the first game. Charles, held to 3.1 yards a carry in the first match up exploded for a franchise record 259 rushing yards and the Chiefs won 44-24.
The game eliminated the Broncos from playoff contention and was the second consecutive year that the franchise tossed it's last three games onto the garbage heap.
The Broncos were a team of extremes in 2009. After starting the season 6-0, the team lost four straight. It then strung together consecutive wins to get to 8-4, before losing the final four games to finish a mediocre 8-8.
The much maligned Kyle Orton could have carried the Broncos into the playoffs with a win but he tossed three interceptions on 56 attempts. And when a QB has to throw the ball 50+ times, his team usually is not going to win.
Now into 2010, it will be interesting to see what wonder kid Josh McDaniels will do with the roster. Brandon Marshall is almost certainly gone. I have to think he could land a first round draft pick in exchange for him. The secondary is full of the likes of Brian Dawkins and Ty Law and needs to a complete top-to-bottom redesign.
Orton will likely stay the starting QB. Knowshon Moreno has established himself as the top rookie running back of the 2009 season, which means nothing now. Tight end Tony Scheffler is likely to be gone before the start of the next training camp. Ryan Clady has been excellent but anybody who knows anything knows you can never have enough high quality offensive linemen.
The future looks bright -- but you won't need shades.
