Andy Russell, LC Greenwood, Jerry Kramer, Dave Robinson, Tommy Nobis, Jim Lachey, Russ Grimm, Jim Covert, Dexter Manley, Harold Carmichael.
Maybe even throw in Richard "Tombstone" Jackson. He had a truncated career but when he was playing was perhaps the best at his position.

I would add Randy Gradishar and Steve Atwater to that list, as well as Drew Pearson and Louis Wright.
Cris Carter, Richard Dent and Jeff Van Note.
I'd take Charles Mann over Dexter Manley if we're going Redskins D-Linemen, though.

Mmmmm.....I wouldn't. Dexter was a much more dominant defensive lineman in his career than Mann was in his. He was neck and neck with Lawrence Taylor for sack titles and was a demon against the run as well. He was a wrecking machine and a two-time all pro. Remember also that it was he and not Mann who usually had to face the badass offensive tackles on opposing teams (Jim Covert, Anthony Munoz, etc)
I don't have stats on who made the most tackles(I would bet 10-1 that DM recorded more than CM), but in 143 games Dexter recorded 103 sacks. Mann made 83 sacks in 177 games.

Manley to me seemed like a better version of Mark Gastineau. I thought Mann was the anchor of that defense, though.
Manley may have been all-pro twice, but Mann has him beat in regards to pro bowl recognition 4-1.

MUCH better than MG. MG was just a pass rusher. You could run on his side all day. You didn't run at Dexter. He'd nail your running back for a loss. He was that quick and explosive.
I'm not knocking Mann. I just recall Mann becoming more of the anchor AFTER Dexter was gone. Before then it was all #72.
Don't forget that Pro Bowl is voted on by the players. If you're not liked to some degree it can cost you(many players have attested to this) and Dexter was NOT liked. Case and point: Ray Nitschke only played in a single pro bowl during all his years with the Packers. But he was a SEVEN TIME all-pro.
All-pro carries more weight in HOF consideration than number of pro bowls.
But your point is well taken

As is yours. Believe me, I know Manley was worlds better than Gastineau. But he seemed to be a better version of the type of defensive player Gastineau was, a pure run for the ball guy. Gastineau seemed to focus solely on the one who had the ball initially, though. We shouldn't really talk about him in this forum.
I think Manley's off-field issues have harmed him in the eyes of the voters, though. There were times he seemed so much of a distraction you have to wonder if he was really helping the team. The man has been through so much, you have to root for him in general.

I am with you 100% on Harold Carmichael.
If I may add two additional suggestions to the names being bandied about:
Easley, Kenny (SS)
Kennedy, Cortez (DT)
:twocents:

If Easley had not injured his neck, he wouldn't need to be in threads like these.

I guess I just have a problem with inducting more people from the Steel Curtin defense. Enough is enough if you ask me.
It is a disrgrace that Nobis is not in. Same for Cris Carter except he is only recently eligible.
