View Full Version : Penn's Franklin Field
I've always loved the look of this old stadium. The lower bowl was constructed in 1922 and the upper deck in 1925.

The caption of this one states that it's an Army/Navy game form 1908, so it still must be when the stadium was wooden, before being torn down for the concrete version.

Check out the field house in the background...same in that picture and the picture directly above.
I know. That field house really adds to the charm of the place.
Couple more good shots of it I found on flickr:

Well you thought it might be the same place, that field house is all the proof you need...

One thing they could do is revert to a natural grass field.

I did my first broadcast from the old wooden press box that hung off the south stands. It was a lacrosse match against Cornell, and we didn't get to use the main press box above the north stands.
I also love how they have all of the field markings for all of the sports at the same time -- football in white, soccer in blue, lacrosse in red, field hockey in yellow.

I drove by this place this summer when I was in philly and it looked so cool!
