More good news for Seattle1. Cortez Kennedy made the cut! He's only been eligible for three or so years, so I think his chances of ultimately making it are pretty good.

Anyone willing to make predictions?

It seems the Pro Football HoF have a more structured process for selecting HoFers.

It hasn't changed much in nearly 40 years, either. The biggest changes I can think of is increasing the total of Seniors Candidates from 1 to 2 in the last few years and they've changed the minimum/maximum inducted from 4/7 to 3/6.

Perhaps they should change something, as this disgrace of the HOF for once again ignoring Ray Guy is palpable. :grouch:

With that said, off of this group, Woodson, Sharpe, Hayes, Reed, Randle and Thomas are on my ballot. :applaud:

Not a good year for Bay Area candidates. Guy, Kenny Stabler and Charles Haley didn't make it this far after having done so in the past.

I agree with you about Woodson and Thomas. I think one other first-year candidate will make it , and that's Bruce Smith. I also have Carter, McDaniel and Humphrey as the Senior pick.

Carter, Reed, Smith, and Woodson are the only guys who are going to make it in.

McDaniel may miss it but only because he is a lineman...but he was one of the best at his position who will make it in next year if he doesn't this year.

No Senior Candidates?

Really, the only reason I think one will get in is because at least one always does. I don't think either Humphrey or Hayes are glaring omissions, though. Hayes does look really inferior numbers wise to Carter and Reed, which is not a huge detriment because era must be taken into effect. But it's something to consider. Humphrey was a great pass rusher but there are plenty of great pass rushers still waiting. If one gets in, great. If neither do, it'll be somebody else's turn next year.

Thomas and Smith are well ahead of Humphrey on the list for pass rushers...Smith is the all time leader in sacks, Thomas is #11 but his accident and death prevented him from getting more.

Hayes will also have to wait due to having better competition on the ballot with stronger resumes than him. #7 and #10 all time in receiving yards, #3 and #6 in receptions, #4 and #11 in TDs- hard not to put them in when Hays is nowhere near them in stats. They belong in this year, he can wait another year.

If they must put a senior candidate in there they would put Humphrey in...

Here is my humble opinion of the players that should receive a bust in Canton this year.

Of the senior candidates, both are worthy!

Bob Hayes may only have 371 catches but his career average per receptions is 20 yards! It's just too bad he has to go in posthumously.

Claude Humphrey is credited with 122 career sacks. He was one of the precursors that helped define the defensive end position in the NFL.

Rod Woodson is perhaps the greatest cornerback and later safety to play the game. It's as simple as that.

Cris Carter should have been enshrined last year. After his troubled youth, which included Bob Ryan cutting him from the Philadelphia Eagles, he produced one of the top five careers of any wide out to play in the NFL.

Shannon Sharpe in addition to his three Superbowl rings, he and Tony Gonzalez helped revolutionize the tight end position. Players like Jason Witten, Chris Cooley, Antonio Gates, Kellen Winslow Jr., and many stars of the future will all owe a huge debt to Sharpe.

Bruce Smith helped lead the Buffalo Bills to four consecutive Superbowl appearances on the way to the all-time sack record. That alone puts him in bronze.

I'd put more in but I don't think it is allowed by the by-laws. This would make an incredible class for the HOF.

I think I'll change my mind and swap Smith for Randle.

Bob Hayes was the most dangerous wide receiver of his time. His catch totals don't reflect his true worth.

I'm very much inclined to agree on all points.
