First off, being that I'm new here, I'd like to say hello to all the other Seahawks fans kicking around this board. I'm more of a CFL fan than an NFL fan, and I know more about the CFL, but I've been learning a bit more and more the last few years as I've become more of an NFL fan.

I'm just wondering what are your thoughts on Seneca Wallace as a quarterback. I've never personally been a fan of his, and I cringed when Hasselbeck went down. I used to have no confidence in him as a back-up. His play in Hsselbeck's abense has changed my opinion slightly, but I still think the Seahawks would have been better suited if they had a dependable veteran back-up on the roster. What do you guys think?

I think Wallace suffers from a syndrome common to a lot of today's best NFL quarterbacks: BBWPQB. But I wouldn't worry about it. Give him some playing time and it'll clear right up.

I think Wallace is one of the best QB prospects in the NFL. Wish the Bills had him, you can have J.P. Losman and Kelly Holcomb for him.

Hmm, no that I think about it, Wallace isn't so bad after all. :D

Wallace is a good backup. He has proven that he can get the job done if he needs to. I really want Matt back, but untill then, Wallace will do his job.

He is a good rushing QB, kind of comparable to Vick.

That "good backup" went 15 for 23 for 161 yards passing while tossing two touchdowns in today's win against one of the best teams in the NFC. He also took off on a 31 yard QB sneak.

My point is this, Wallace is more than just a backup. And I'm just going to be blunt about it. Apparently my first comment wasn't clear enough, if Wallace were white, after what he did at Iowa State he would have been drafted way before the fourth round in 2003. I think there's a good chance that he would have been a late first round or early second round pick. His main "football-related" drawback is that he's not as tall as the prototypical QB but he more than makes up for that with his mobility, field vision and presence.

If Wallace were white, we'd be talking about him the same way we talk about Tony Romo -- as a future Pro-Bowl QB.

Now I'm not say Wallace should replace Hasselback in Seattle. (Even Hasselback had to spend years as a backup in Green Bay before he got his shot in Seattle.) But I do think Wallace should get a chance to be the QB somewhere in the future and when he does he's going to shine.

First off, I will make it clear that If Wallace were white, I would be talking about him in the same way I have been. I know you weren't implying anything about me, rather you were making a general comment which may very well be true. I just want you to know my stance on it. Wallace's play in Hasselbeck's absence is starting to change my view on him I must admit. He has proven to be a capable backup and is proving tht he could that he could be a starter on this team, or some other team at some point. As of know though, my opinion is still more or less the same as it was before.

Yes, he is a good back-up.

Did you know that "one of the best teams in the NFC" is tied with the 49ers in their division?

I'll never talk about Tony Romo as a future pro-bowl QB. The only circumstance that I would refer to him as a future pro-bowl QB is if it was a day before the Pro-Bowl and Tony Romo was on the there 100% for sure.

Did you know that Alex Smith has made huge strides this season and is now one of the best young quarterbacks in the NFL? Have you noticed the evolution of Frank Gore? Yeah the Niners were tied with the Rams and the Niners are turning into a damn good team. I suggest you open your eyes.

I wasn't referring to you at all. Sorry if you thought that. I was referring to the incredible lack of diversity in the NFL. There are very few black head coaches in the NFL. There are very few black general managers in the NFL. There is, I believe, one black franchise owner in the NFL.

I hear that. Nothing is certain. But take a look at these numbers, Romo has a 68.2 CMP%, 8.94 Yards Per Attempt, and a 100.0 QB Rating this season. He's also got the Cowboys back into first place in the NFC East, although the team is tied for first for now. He's also lead his team to a victory over the best team in the AFC and maybe the NFL: the Indianapolis Colts.

I'm starting to think this guy might be really special.

I know you weren't reffering to me. I just think that racism is n't really a big problem in football today. I can't see people in high places holding people back from positions based on colour. It would be stupid to hold back a qualified player, coach, or GM based on his skin colour. Maybe I'm just naive and it really is a problem. I certainly hope not anyway.

Yes I did thank you. I was just taking something you said and taking it out of context, like you did to me.

Seneca just signed a multi year deal with the Seahawks...

I think he's a pretty good backup, I'm satisfied with him in there, though I'll always prefer Hasselbeck as the starter of course. Seneca is good enough to be a good backup, but not so good to cause any kind of QB controversy or try to be lured away by another team.

As a backup QB, he is not "too good" or "too bad," he is "just right."
