View Full Version : HOF preliminary ballot

No slam dunk first balloters. Bruce Mathews and Randall McDaniel have the best shots of the newcomers. Paul Tagliabue is likely, while being a seniors finalist is practically a rubber stamp toward election.

Yep, Bruce and Randall have the best chance. Watters, Butler, Cunnigham and possibly Terrell Davis get in down the road.

Ken Stabler
Art Monk
Ray Guy
Bruce Matthews
Don Coryell
Paul Tagliabue
Snake and Coryell are long overdue. Monk was one of the greatest receivers ever. Guy reinvented the punter., Matthews and Tagliabue are the best by far of an otherwise mediocre freshman class.

Monk is long overdue also. If he doesn't get in this time around, there is something wrong.
Only seven finalist remain from last time, Monk, Irvin, Kuechenberg, Zimmerman, Grimm, Thurman Thomas and Derrick Thomas. I like Thurman and Derrick's chances, as well as Monk's.
ATL, you think Randall Cunningham will make it? I think he has a lot of QBs ahead of him. Same with Butler, a lot of great DBs still waiting, and probably ahead of him.

I am in complete agreeance with dennis here. That freshman class doesn't look like much to me either. Matthews is the only player I can see maybe making it from the freshman class.

I'll agree on the Snake, Monk, Matthews and Coryell but I don't think we need to automatically enshrine Paul Tagliabue -- He can wait one year. And I think there are better players than Ray Guy awaiting a bronze in Canton.
I would tweak your list to exclude Tagliabue and Guy and include Derrick & Thurman Thomas. I honestly think Derrick Thomas should have been inducted last year but the voters decided not to due to the enshrinement of Reggie White. Having two young and deceased inductees would have made the ceremony incredibly morbid and would have taken away from the celebrations that both their lives deserve individually.
