The Kansas City Chiefs have seen a lot of change in the past year. Gone is Dick Vermeil, replaced as head coach by Herm Edwards. Gone is Al Saunders and his stellar offensive package. Gone is Priest Holmes, replaced due to injury by Larry Johnson.

And now, perhaps, it is time for Trent Green to go too. Trent Green was 11 for 15 for 90 yards, with three sacks, zero touchdowns and one interception -- a 60.4 QB rating at the time of his injury. He's 36 years old and is coming off a massive concusion that has already caused him to miss five and half games and will force to miss a minimum of two more.

Meanwhile, Damon Huard, 33, a career-long back-up who should therefore have a relatively fresh body is playing lights out.

Huard has a 63.8 CMP%, has thrown 1,163 yards for an averae of 7.1 yards per attempt and has a 7 to 1 touchdown to interception ratio -- including one touchdown pass for 78 yards. A passer rating of 96.7 currently highlights his resume. All of this with Tony Gonzalez being the best receiver Huard has to get the ball to. The wide outs are certainly a sorry lot.

The Chiefs are currently 3-3 and that is chiefly due to their poor defensive play. They have given up 124 points in six games. Huard's play was key in last week's big win over 4-2 San Diego.

I'm not stating my opinion in this poll until after hopefully a few people vote in it but the question is: When Trent Green returns should he automatically get his starting QB job back from Huard?

I think Huard has (at least temporarily) won the starters job from Green. The offense is showing constant improvement on a weekly basis and it could have an adverse effect if you yank the QB who has lead them up to this point.

On a related note, I really feel for Green. He has to be one of the most unlucky guys in the league. Gets hurt in St Louis, his backup wins two conference championships, a Super Bowl and two MVP's. Then goes to KC and seemingly loses his starting job after a nasty injury. :(

I agree. I think the job is now Huard's to lose and it is unfortunate that Green has suffered injuries in his career that have prevented him from joining the NFL's elite class of signal-callers.

Like I said in the first post, this is Herm Edwards' offense now, not Al Saunders. And luckily for the Chiefs, Saunders took long-time KC No. 2 QB Todd Collins with him to Washington -- or he'd likely be starting and that could have been a disaster.

Meanwhile KC is kicking. The offense has produced three wins and 96 points in the last three contests. Huard now has a 64.5 CMP%, 1,623 Yards, an 11 to 1 touchdown to interception ratio and a 105.2 QB Rating. I wonder how much of this has to do with his backing up Tom Brady and working with Charlie Weis in New England in '02, '03 & '04.
