Well with your usersname, it would be easy to say become a Cardinals fan...

But then again, did you see that game on Monday night against the Bears?

OUCH!

In all honesty you could go different ways here, who is your favorite players? You can follow their team.

How about the closest team to where you live?

Also, like it or not, team colors come into play as well.. Raiders have a following because of the silver and Black.... (it's true)

I like the Cardinals... Yes it's true... and here is the reason why, I lived in Phoenix for 2 years, and I watched a game live once....

So I am loyal, to a point...

In closing, some of you all know that I am a HUGE Chicago Cubs fan, I challenge you to get "your team" and stick with them, through the good and the bad years... I often get that a lot, "how can you be a fan of a franchise that does not ever win?"

I simply reply with a:

"How can you jump from team to team year after year...?"

I can hear it now...

I was a Patriots fan, but before then I was a Rams fan, but before that I was Packers fan, but before that I was a Cowboys fan, but before that I was a 49ers fan.... and so on and so on...

All good reasons. I'd also advocate following a team that plays a certain style of play. You could also stay neutral for a period of time and pick your team based on their history (including, as Fumble said, basing it on a favourite historical player).

Just a quick question, what other sports (if any) do you follow? You can base your football team on your favourite baseball team (for instance). Or else root for the team that won the championship in the year of your birth (I'm clutching at straws with that one, but I'm sure it happens).

Whoever it is just make sure it isn't the Cowboys and all should be fine. ;)

Since you're chosen a player ofr your user name, the obvious choice would be the Cardinals. They have two top flight receivers, a young quarterback who should star in this league, and have had loads of potential, year-in, year-out, for decades.
Granted, they've rarely fulfilled that promise, and have only won a playoff game once in my lifetime (I'm over 30) but you could grow into the sport as your team does.

I have no problem with people jumping on a bandwagon, as long as they stay on it. For example, if someone became a Steeler fan in the 70s, as long as they stayed a Steeler fan for their life, then I have no problem with it.

Of course, everyone's going to say "Coming from a Patriot fan who doesn't live in New England, should we believe this?" I'm proud to say that I lived in Boston for a year when I was really starting to get interested in sports, and that's how I became a Red Sox/Patriots fan.

How about this? I jumped on to the Tiger bandwagon and I will jump off as soon as Sean Casey goes to another team.

But to be honest, I really find it hard to be a fan of just one team. Like I'm a big fan of the Bengals and an avid fan of the Panthers (crap, I just saw this week's schedule).

Well I live in Canada so I dont live near any NFL teams and my favorite baseball team is Toronto which doesn't have an NFL team. I like the Red Wings in hockey so maybe the Lions (its unfortunate that they suck). Maybe I'll just stick to following the Cardinals.
