High-priced offensive lineman Damien Woody has been placed on the Injured Reserve by the Lions, ending his season. He was the best lineman on a very crappy line, so don't expect anything good to happen from here on out. Rookie Frank Davis, who was carted off the field two weeks ago with a stinger, is expected to play some this week. Woody was brought in by Millen a couple years ago to shore up the O-line, but it never worked. Woody had been labeled as lazy, and he wasn't really effective this season. The only way a team can have success in the NFL is to be strong on both offensive and defensive lines. This team has neither, thus the 0-5 record that will get much worse as the year goes on.
FYI, Woody has a sprained foot. Ronnie Lott had a chunk of his pinky-finger cut off so he could finish a game. Why can't this guy play with a sprained (not even broken) foot? Maybe because he has a Lion on his helmet? That would be my guess. Oh well. Go Lions!
