Another former coach tries to get revenge on his former team. This time, Bills coach Dick Jauron returns to Detroit, where he took over for the fired Steve Marriucci last season after serving as defensive coordinator for the most of two seasons. The Bills are coming off a terrible cremation at the hands of the Bears, and are expected to be more determined to look well for their new coach. RB Willis McGahee is the Bills best player, but he may have a tough time running through the Lions good run defense. The Lions were torched last week for the first time all season, giving up 123 yards to the Vikings' Chester Taylor. As is always the case, look for Bills QB JP Losman to go deep over the Lions shady secondary to speedy receivers Peerless Price and Lee Evans. The Lions will probably put up a bunch of points as well, but may be without Roy Williams, which could cause the entire offense to crumble as it did last week. This should be another close game, with the Lions coaching staff saying (after yet another loss) that the offense is one more game closer to exploding (which will obviously happen after the 2007 NFL Draft).

The Lions Win The Superbowl!!

Well, not quite, but they did pick up their first win of the season today. As usual, the Lions had to make things interesting in the fourth quarter, but this time they managed to hang on. Roy Williams and Kevin Jones both had very good days. James Hall was a monster for the D-Line today, and Shaun Rogers turned in a good effort too. The O-line was shaky, but they are beat to heck, so that was to be expected. They did manage to keep the Bills off of Jon Kitna for the most part, and played with heart today. That is a unit that has plenty of hard times ahead, but the experience of this season could mold a few of them into quality players a year or two down the road. The Lions were hoping to feed off of the Tigers' World Series berth, and I guess they pulled it off. Hopefully this could be a turning point, and things will be better from here on out.

Lions Defeat Bills 20-17 for First Win of the Season

The Detroit Lions gave Head Coach Rod Marinelli his first victory of the season thanks to standout performances on both sides of the ball. Running back Kevin Jones finished the game with 163 all-purpose yards (127 rushing) and one touchdown while receiver Roy Williams finished the game with a career-best 10 receptions for a career-best 161 yards and one touchdown.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Lions' front four came alive with defensive end James Hall coming away with a career-best 3.5 sacks, including one sack-fumble, to go along with four tackles and three assists. (Photo: Gavin Smith)

No hard feelings...?

Of course not. It just seems weird, seeing as how I'm pretty much the only person that posts in this forum, and now I had to delete a bunch of posts that aren't even about the team this forum is dedicated to. Oh well, the Lions fans will come out of the closet sooner or later.

They'll have to come out soon... the oxygen levels in there are low and their running out of corn chips and Coke...

Oct. 16 News:
Jones had his first 100-yard game Sunday since Dec. 26, 2004. He finished with 123 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. Jones was able to play through a hip pointer suffered in the second quarter which required a pain-killing injection at halftime, according to the Detroit News.

One of my buddies went to this game and said he thought the crowd was weird. He had a 2nd-tier 4th row seat and there were only about six people in his row. Everybody seemed to be against the Lions, even the ones wearing the Lions jerseys. Said whatever happened, you would have thought this stadium was in Buffalo.

On the other hand, he said Ford Field is a GREAT place to watch a game, and he would like to go back.

First, I'll say: Welcome to the Fever!

The attitude about Lions football in Detroit is pretty bitter. The fans still pack the place because they love football first, and this is the closest pro team to Detroit. Alot of them aren't there to root for the Lions. More of them are showing up because they found out it was fun to root against villains, which is what Matt Millen and Joey Harrington are and were. Why Joey was a villian, I don't know. He's a good guy, he just didn't play well. I'm sure Matt Millen is a good guy as well, he just doesn't know how to scout players, manage a checkbook, and run a professional football franchise. It's obvious that the owners (the Ford family) are the real villains in this scenario. They're the ones who let him bumble around for five years, before deciding that the bumbling was so entertaining that they would like him to stick around for another five, at least. The attitude is very similar to that which was shown to Tigers' owner Mike Illitch before this season became a success for them. I know that Detroit would go Lions crazy if they ever put together a good team, but that seems to be so far off. Which is an accomplishment in itself (being able to consistently field a bad team year in and year out), seeing as how parity rules the NFL.

As for Ford Field, heck yeah, it's a beautiful stadium. I've only managed to get to one game since it was opened, but I walked the entire facility and it's truly top-notch. Cities need to build more brick buildings (or use old ones for new purposes, like Ford Field), they're gorgeous. If they can get some good football players in there that stay every week and not just show up once a year with another team, than I believe it will be recognized as a world-class facility, much like The Palace of Auburn Hills.

Sorry for the long-winded rant. I usually am talking to myself in here, so I'll just dump on anyone that shows up... lol.

One of my brother's friends couldn't give away his extra tickets, and he tried at least 7 people. Heck, I'll come up to Detroit to see a game. I've only been to Ford Field once, the Bengals debacle last year, but I liked it.
