The Jets have 4 quarterbacks competeing for the starting job:

Chad Pennington
Patrick Ramsey
Brooks Bollinger
Kellen Clemens

Who do you think will be the Jets starting quarterback?

And also who do you think should be the Jets starting QB?

Patrick Ramsey will be the Jets QB.
Chad Pennington SHOULD be the Jets QB.

By the way, I forgot to mention but I'm talking about this season. Pennington shouldn't be because he is too much of an injury risk. Ramesy will probably start. He can be good but has been inconsistent in the last couple of years. Bollinger isn't meant to be a starting QB. Although he is talented his size is a disadvantage. Clemens will be groomed to be the future starting QB.

I know it is for this season, but because of his salary and what he's down for the Jets, Pennigton should be the QB, but he won't.

I still think it will end up being Pennington, Ramsey has been an inconsistent backup QB for the most of his career and has yet to prove himself. Pennington has led the Jets to 2 playoff appearances, and if not for Doug Brien, would have been in the AFC Championship game 2 seasons ago with Pennington at the helm.

I think if he shows he's he is healthy Pennington should be and will be the starting quarterback. The team seems to follow his leadership and he has shown himself to be a tough kid. That said, you can't blame the Jets for looking elsewhere considering Pennington's injury problems.

News out of Jets camp says Pennington has already been told he is the starter. That brought denials from Jets coach Eric Mangini, who said no one has been told he would be the starting QB.

I think the new head coach is simply playing mind games with Chad Pennington. I think Eric Mangini has intended to start Pennington all along but created this pseudo-competition to motivate Pennington.

The problem with the Jets the last few years hasn't just been quarterback injuries. (A huge part of the problem was Herm Edwards and his awful clock and game management.) The problem has also been how often QB's have been smashed into the ground or thrown around like ragdolls. It was no accident that the Jets franchise used both of its first round draft picks this year on offensive lineman: OT D’Brickashaw Ferguson and Center Nick Mangold. Those two players constitute a huge upgrade of the offensive line.

This team also still has legit WR targets. The always dangerous Justin McCareins is poised for a huge comeback year. TE Doug Jolley gives Pennington a nice big target to hit. It also helps that Jolley is an excellent blocker. And not to be forgotten is the gem of the organization's receiving corp: Laveranues Coles. If Coles has a protected Pennington throwing to him, he could put up big yards like he did in 2003.

Much more bothersome to me than the QB "controversy", which as I said early, I think is contrived -- I'd be worried about who's going to be running the ball. Curtis Martin is done and with Lamont Jordan on in Oakland, there is no real second option. The Jets need to pull off a deal with the Titans for Chris Brown so they can at least have a 1,000 yard rusher on this year's team.
