Lions back-up offensive lineman Frank Davis was injured and carted off the field early in the second half on a kick return against the Rams. Here's the AP story on Davis, and I'll also post updates on his condition as I find out more:

ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Detroit Lions guard Frank Davis was taken off the field on a truck after he injured his neck on the opening kickoff of the second half in Sunday's 41-34 loss to the Rams. Coach Rod Marinelli said the injury did not appear to be serious.

Davis was taken to a hospital, but had movement in his arms and legs, Marinelli said.

"It appears everything is going to be fine with Frank," Marinelli said. "All the X-rays and everything were negative right now."

Marinelli did not speculate on when Davis might play again.

Davis was blocking on the return when he went down at about the Detroit 17. He was down for several minutes as trainers unscrewed the face mask from his helmet. He was placed on a board, then lifted onto the back of a truck.

Davis, a 6-foot-3, 325-pound undrafted free agent from South Florida, was signed by the Lions on May 4.

Davis is said to have suffered what is known as a "stinger" and is expected to recover completely. It's still not known yet when he'll be able to return to the team. It's good to see that he turned out fine. I had flashbacks of Mike Utley as they were carting him off the field.
