Suppose something convinced Al Davis not to pick Bo jackson - perhaps some Chiefs fans convince him that he should pledge to never play for Al Davis' Raiders becasue they are such big archrivals. Who would draft Bo Jackson? Would the reception be as cold for him in Royals Stadium? I don't know, the idea it was the Raiders seems to have played a part, but it seems fans would also be a bit worried that he might choose only football.
Jackson clearly didn't like the Bucs. (Indeed, Tampa didn't - I recal lin the middle '80s there was talk of more Browns fans than Tampa fans down there because so many were transplanted Ohioans.) Would the Falcons take a stab? They had Deion Sanders later. Or would it be a team one player away from a Super Bowl, figuring maybe they could get him for the stretch run. The Browns already had two good backs - but the Raiders had Marcus Allen. The Broncos? Maybe the Dolphins? (What an offense?)
Was he bound for Canton without his injury? That rushing average is amazing, it reminds me of how Gaylr Sayers played so well for such a short duration, though his problem was injuries. I think his notoriety would get him to Canton after 6-7 more seasons of playing like he did (10-11 total), simply because Joe Namath and others are there, too. he might have been enough to beat the Bills in '93, then, and the Raiders would have taken on the Chiefs in the AFC title clash...oh, boy, he might want to request a trade if he beats the Chiefs :-)
