Brett Farve threw three touchdowns today making him only the second quarterback in NFL history to throw for 400 touchdowns -- the other of course being Dan Marino.

Farve's career total now stands at 402, putting him just 18 touchdown passes off the all-time record, with 13 games still to play this season.

The purpose of this post is the document Farve's chase of perhaps the most important individual record in football, the touchdown pass.

Go Favre! Pack fan as well as Ravens and Pats.

Also, why do you spell it "Farve"?

Cause that's the way it sounds. Do you really want to start pronouncing his name right? Me neither.

I hope he breaks the record--this year, but don't think he will given his and the teams performances overall the past couple of years.
Why do I hope he breaks the record? Because I love the idea of the leader in TD passes having at least one NFL championship to his name. I'm old enough to have seen Unitas and when Tarkenton broke the record I was not happy.
When Marino passed Fran, I kept hoping Marino and Shula would work some magic and produce a SB win. They didn't, so go Brett!

PS In personal favorites, Favre beats out Marino and Tarkenton.

Favre still stands at 402 touchdown passes after throwing for zero against the Eagles and claims he will make his 246 consecutive start in week five after suffering a neck injury in week four. But he's still projected to throw 24 touchdowns this season which would put him in a dead even tie with Dan Marino for most touchdowns thrown all-time.

I think it's getting less and less likely that Favre breaks the record -- or plays out the remainder of the season.

Brett tossed one touchdown in week five, leaving him with seven on they year and 403 in his career -- just 17 more to go in 11 weeks to tie Marino. This seems like a done deal. I just hope I get to see it. No so much because I'm a fan of Brett "Favre", but because it will be such an iconic moment in NFL history.

I think it is safe to say that if Favre does take Marino's record nobody is giong to come close to taking it from Favre for at least seven or eight years and the only viable candidate now is Peyton Manning -- there's no guarantee he will stay healthy long enough to accomplish the feat. Favre could have the record for a long, long time.
