Here's how it plays out right now:
Michigan
far better than
Notre Dame
far better than
Penn State
Is Penn State really that bad? I can believe that Michigan is really that good. And what do you think of Notre Dame? Are they really just a #2 team that got stunned? Are they a bad team that got lucky against PSU? Or are they some kind of average ranked team that lost to an incredible Michigan squad?

Well if you're going to give the possibility that the "got lucky" against PSU, then you could also say that Michigan "got lucky" against Notre Dame. But I don't think that was it. I wouldn't call them an "average ranked" team who lost to an incredible Michigan squad, though Michigan proved they were the better team. I would say it's a combination between a #2 team who got stunned and an average ranked team who lost to an incredible Michigan squad, although Notre Dame is still probably a top 10 team who will compete for a BCS bowl spot, although their national championship hopes may be dashed.

OK, I'm retracting the retraction of the statements I made after Week 1. Notre Dame never should have been a 2 seed.

ND should never have been #2. I think this says more about Michigan than anything else.

I wouldn't ever put much stock in comparison scores. ND & Michigan are both very good teams, Michigan had everything go right for them. I'm not sure if PSU is a very good team.

Next weeks should say how good or bad Penn State is. If they hang in there vs. Ohio State then they are better than they were last week against Notre Dame. If they get their butts whooped bad then they are as bad as they looked against Notre Dame.
As much as I admire and respect the team Notre Dame isn't as good as their #2 ranking. Frankly their 4 point win over Georgia Tech should have cost them that spot, someone else like Auburn or West Virginia should have been #2 with Notre Dame barely in the top 5 if at all.
Michigan exposed Notre Dame for what it is- a great team but not as good as the top 10 teams. I think they have at least one more loss in them ending up with a 10-2 or even 9-3 record, out of the top 10 and likely out of a major bowl game.

I'm now worried about Michigan. If scenarios play out right, we could have a #2 Michigan @ #1 Ohio St. That would probably be better than Ohio St.-Texas.
Nut back to ND. They are showing that they aren't the team people thought they were. They may just get in at #10 but only if a couple more top teams fall.

I think that only being 3 weeks into the season, its a little early to start writing off a team for only 1 loss. By the end the season there will be plenty of teams with at least 1 loss and maybe 2 that are in the top 10. By the end of the season, Texas could just as easily be up in the top spot, and Notre Dame could be right behind. Yes Michigan looked very good in manhandling Notre Dame, but guess what? Barring the Ohio State game later in the year, that's the most jacked up that you will see Michigan all year. It's even possible that after a win of that magnitude, Michigan will be flat next week. I am not saying that it is probable, but it is possible. Football at the Collegiate level is more about emotion and swings. You get really up for the big games, and sometimes after a huge win, you celebrate a little too hard, or you just can't seem to get that up for the game the following week, it happens. Anybody see the OSU - Cincinatti game? It took OSU a whole half to get into the game. If they would have been playing a real football program, let alone an outstanding one, they may have been buried so deep that they couldn't get back into the game. Sound familiar?
The point of all of this rambling? It's a long season, and 1 loss nowadays doesnt always ruin the whole season like it used to in the old days. Brady_Branch is a prime example, lol. Week 1 - Notre Dame are over rated, they shouldn't be that high. Week 2 - I take back everything I said, Notre Dame are great. Week 3 - I take back what I said the second time, Notre Dame stink again. Lol, so if they blow out Michigan State this week, are they back to being good?
My thoughts on the game: Michigan caught a few early breaks that they were able to capitolize on. They are such a great program, that once they get you down, you will not have much of a chance on getting back up. Don't get me wrong, I truly believe you create your own breaks, and they out hustled, out toughed, and outplayed Notre Dame. Thats just the way it is some games

It's good to be a prime example of SOMETHING. :D
Even if they blow out Michigan State, they still will not deserve a #2, as long as OSU, USC, and Auburn remain undefeated. I'll still have them in the top 15, but not at #2. Michigan is a good team, they capitalized on ND's mistakes. MSU isn't as good, but if they can put up a good fight, then ND will not move back up in my book. The defense did look horrendous, Manningham had his guy COMPLETELY beat on Michigan's second TD...

ND was losing to Michigan State but as of right now have a 40-37 lead with 37 seconds to go in the 4th quarter.

Lambert just picked a pass off on a crazy play. It was deflected by a ND player hit the MSU reciever and taken off the leg of the receiver by Lambert. This was exaclty what the fans came to see. Notre Dame 40, Michigan State 37. Notre Dame scored 19 points in the 4th quarter.

WOW. That's all I can say right now. I never lost faith and even down 31-14 at the half I still thought they could do it but I'm still shocked. What a great game!

I started watching the game when the score was 31-17, then Notre Dame scored on the long TD pass over the middle. I watched a few other shows and then turned back to see Notre Dame winning. AMAZING!

I started watching when it was 17-0 MSU, kept watching until it was 17-7, then fell asleep. When I woke up, it was 37-21, and then I went to bed. I woke up this morning, looked at the paper, and saw that ND had somehow won.

I still believe Notre Dame is overrated. They had an amazing comeback but the fact remains they gave up a heck of alot of points to an unranked team and by all rights should have lost if not for MSU running out of steam.

Notre Dame should be out of the Top 15 but I bet they are placed in the Top 10.

Guys they have had one of the hardest schedules so far this year of all the top 15 teams and are 3-1. GT, Penn State, Michigan, Michigan St, those are all tough teams. Why should they be out of the top 15?

Yeah, i would look at it that way as well... MSU had as much to doith ND winning that game as ND had in winning it...
