View Full Version : 'Washed Up' Warner Wins NFC Player of Week Honors
Fumble

Kurt Warner is off to a great start in his effort to show he's not "washed up" in the NFL. Squeaky clean in image as always, but washed up, not yet. Not even close.
In fact, he used the term "washed up" four times when asked about being the NFC offensive player of the week on Wednesday.
"It always means something, at any point in time, no matter where you're at in your career," Warner said of his sixth player of the week honor, "especially when you're old and washed up like I am."

Warner has never got any respect. He's the NFL's version of Rodney Dangerfield -- except without the obscenity laced tirades.
He is leading the league in fumbles again. But it looks, for now, like Dennis Green is going to stick with him at QB. I can't blame Green for doing this. The Cardinals offensive line is awful. Why expose Leinart to the hits? Troy Aikman probably could have played a few more seasons had he not taken such a beating his rookie season in Dallas.
Other than the fumbles Warner is having a decent season: 64.1 CMP%, 7.65 YDS/A, 87.4 QB Rating. Plus, Warner is projected to throw 27 touchdowns this season -- not too bad for a 35 year old.

And Kurt Warner today's game against the Falcons will probably Kurt's last start for the Cards. I went to the game and he was just horrible out there, 2 fumbles and the interception returned for a TD. He really looked bad.

You're right. Matt Leinart is now the man in Arizona and he gets to lead them to the promised land, just as soon as he gets up off the ground -- can you say "sacked again"? (Nine sacks, four interceptions and two fumbles already for Leinart in only four starts!)
This Arizona O-Line is so bad it's making the Edge look pedestrian.
Last year with the Indianapolis O-Line the Edge rushed for 1,502 yards for an average per carry of 4.2 yards, and tacked on 13 touchdowns and 94 first downs. He also exceed 100 yards rushing in a single game nine times!
This year behind the Arizona O-Line he's averaging 2.7 yards per attempt and has scored only two touchdowns. He hasn't cracked 100 rushing in a single game yet.
My point is this, the Cardinals know they're not going to win this year. The offensive line is so bad it's made one of the elite running backs in the league look like a chump. Besides not being able to run-block the line also can not pass protect. Why put Leinart out there? So he can get pulverized?
This is the same thing the Cowboys did to Troy Aikman at the start of his career and I think the beating he took cut years off his Hall of Fame career. It seems very stupid to repeat that mistake.
Let's just hope for Leinart's sake that Arizona copies the Jet's example in the 2006 draft and picks up a couple of O-Linemen in the first round. (Gee, isn't it funny how Chad Pennington is suddenly among the NFL's best QBs again now that he's behind a decent line?)
