View Full Version : Fantasy Football League

Well, this is sure to be the first of many threads of this type in here.

I would like to get a fantasy football league going of knowledgeable owners, who love to play just for the fun of it. I figure for the most part if you are in here, you may just fit the bill. If there is enough interest, we can go from there on determining where to play the league, type of league, exact rules, etc. Please post any interest and/or suggestions you may have.

I tried to keep the scoring somewhat simple. I did decide to use IDP, or Individual Defensive Players instead of Defensive Teams. If you have have never played this way before, you will find it a blast, and will never go back to Defensive Teams style of FF. Draft is set for Saturday, August 19, at 9:00pm Eastern Standard Time (6:00pm for our friends on West Coast)

I am hoping to get 12 for the league, but 10 will suffice. Remember to pre rank your players for the draft, in case a problem pops up and you cant make the draft, not sure if I would want to roll with what Yahoo will draft for ya :p

For those that haven't played IDP leagues before (like me), I'm assuming the "D" slot can be used on any defensive players?

Snake
07-27-2006, 01:43 PM
Yes, but I would suggest using LB's there. They tend to be the biggest point earners on the defensive side of the ball.

So far we have 5 owners signed up at the Yahoo site, we need 7 more to fill the league. If you have expressed interest in the league, or even if you haven't expressed interest yet, but want to get in the league, please go to the Yahoo site and sign up as soon a spossible. All league info is in Post#8 of this thread. If there are any other questions, or something is unclear, just let me know. We are now getting down to 2 weeks before the Draft.

Looking forward to a great, fun league. :D

And ya, ktss, we may want to keep an eye on EaglesFan ;)

The draft time has changed guys. The draft will be at 7:45 PM EST, instead of 9:00 PM EST. The date is still the same.

With free spots still available, feel free to invite a friend or 2 into the league. At this point, we still have 7 open spots. I have told a few of my friends about the league as well.

The draft lasted an hour and 57 minutes and if I must say some myself, Blue-N-Silver (whoever that may be), might have come out on top. He was prepared and drafted lots of Colts, which could be a win/lose situation. I have to face him Week 6 so when the time comes I'll be ready.

I can't believe that my 16h pick was wasted on Jim Leonhard. He has 1 career solo tackle. I was rushing, and didn't pick in time. The same thing happened with Priest Holmes. Oh well... I liked how the draft went. I got most of the defensive guys that I wanted. And I took a risk on Terell Owens. Hopefully he likes his new home in Dallas.

Edit: Mr. Leonhard has been officially droped.

They try and lure you in that way...personally I'd rather have that lag in the results because if there wasn't I'd probably spend more time watching my points unfold than watching a game (and I'd MUCH rather be watching a game, and that way it eliminates temptation). The only time it's a pain is when the league playoff roll around and you really want to know how your team did.

You're the Colts yeah? You are 6-3, in second place.

Doing well for a guy that can't access Yahoo!

We play each other this week...If you are curious, I'm in fourth. Other placings, EaglesFan is in the lead, you're in second (as I've previously mentioned) and Packer Backer is in third.

And to think I started 2-2....

You still haven't approached Yahoo about your problem??

Dang Brady, not sure if you want to, since you are doing so well, but I believe I can change your line up for ya, to help you out. If you want I can give you your team roster, and you just tell me who to play and who to bench weekly. This will at least let you optimize your line up, so to speak. Of course, your blind luck is running pretty high right now, don't know if I would want to mess that up, lol. You may actually lose a game or something if you try.

I have with my numerous other accounts, but they keep returning my mail to me.

Snake, who on my team has a bye? I'm pretty sure everyone's had theirs.

Snake

You have nobody on Bye this week. However, I did notice that you have Ben Troupe as your starting TE (133 yds 1 td) and Jeremy Shockey on the bench (306 yds 5 td).

You have a few guys listed as probable and questionable:
Santana Moss and Joseph Addai are both questionable, and Meshawn Johnson and Reggie Bush are both probable.

Doesn't appear to be much on yer bench to help ya out except for Deion Branch.

Let me know if you need a full roster.

Nope. Just start Shockey. Actually, start Branch at W/R, since IIRC I have Dominic Rhodes there, and he's not doing too good.

Done and Done bro, just let me know if you need any thing else done if you continue to be unable to get access.

I's like to make some trades to shake things up. No one on my roster is off limits so let's make a deal. ;)

My team is Crushing Defeat. Which is what I'll suffer every week....:D

Second place...very impressive!

Congrats to EaglesFan for winning the whole lot and I hope to see you all in the league next season.

Yes, congrats to all this year. We had a very competitive league, which was indicated by the amount of teams that had a chance of making the playoffs going into the last week of the regular season. I will be running the redraft league again next year, and all who were in this year get first shots at teams in league. I am also thinking about adding a Dynasty league next year if we have enough serious, interested coaches.

Congrats EaglesFan, you now have bragging rights of being the Pigskin Fever Classic Fantasy Football Champion of 2006!!

Thanks again everyone.

I was a little surprised by the final standings. 8 teams at .500 or more with three tied for first is a little closer than I'm used to seeing.

Fifth. You missed the playoff but you could say you "won" the consolation round (if you want to look at it tat way). :)

i will be involved as will my friend who has played 2 straight years now..

Next year we MUST have Elway or the Highway back...

This season, there was not any trades it seems... and zero trash talking...

That's the best I've ever finished in a fantasy league of any kind. I think I finished eighth, twelfth, and twelfth in this baseball season, and last year finished seventh, sixth, and fifth in football.

I'll join you guys next year. This year I had in only one team and they lost in the championship game. I also had the second best record in the league (though I didn't play the #1 team in the championship).
