This may interest me because I'm a Buckeye fan, but anyway...
Ohio State plans to travel 35,000 to 40,000 fans down to Texas, well over their official allotment of 4,000. The Buckeyes have rented out the University of Texas' basketball 16,000 seat arena for its pregame band concert called the "skull session" and plans to sell the concert out. Ohio State's fans have traditionally outnumbered opponents' fans at Indiana, Northwestern, Illinois and bowl games but this may be the first time in a major national 1vs2 game that the visiting team has as many fans as the opponent.
Also this year, Ohio State ticket officials received ticket requests for nearly double the number of seats at Ohio Stadium. They estimated that if the Horseshoe seated 125,000 or 140,000 they could have sold out the entire season easily. No plans for expansion yet, though. When the Shoe was remodeled for the 2001 season, luxury suites and club seats along with wider and more aisles, were added preventing OSU from claiming the nation's largest stadium crown. The school opted instead to go with comfort. Still Columbus' football stadium has been registered as the loudest in the country on several scales.
