Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports the Oakland Raiders have traded WR Doug Gabriel to the New England Patriots. The compensation for Gabriel has not been announced yet.
Deion Branch the malcontent New England WR could very well be the compensation the Raiders receive for Gabriel.
Branch and his attitude seems more fit for Oakland than New England. And if Branch isn't what the Raiders are getting in the trade, look for Belichick to cut Branch probably by tomorrow. I'm sure Belichick doesn't want Branch poisoning the Patriots' locker room with his issues.

Apparently the symmetry would have been too perfect. The Raiders received an undisclosed draft pick for Doug Gabriel.
So, Deion Branch remains a Patriot, for now.

It was a 5th round draft pick sent to the Raiders in exchange for Gabriel according to ESPN.
And if he can cut fan favorite Ty Law he will cut Deion Branch, it's just a matter of when. His being cut will free up one more roster spot for a player who actually wants to be there...

He cut Milloy, too. Didn't he? Belichick isn't afraid to jettison wayward "stars".

Right! Forgot about him! And it was Milloy that came back to bite them in the buns hard soon after getting cut.

Didn't he play his first game as a Bill againts the Pats? I think he got a pick in that game too.

31-0 trouncing thanks to his inside information. They got them back by beating them by the same score later in the season.
On the other hand unlike the Milloy situation Branch likely will not be able to come back to haunt the Patriots due to the fact that the Patriots are able to adapt their defense to suit the team so any information Branch forks over about the Patriots likely will be obsolete or even downright false if he can give any at all.

Beat them by the same score late in the season and went on to win the Super Bowl in Houston.
