Team acquires a pick in the 2008 draft with Nick Cole now the backup center.

The trade makes sense. Reid wanted more bulk at center and he'll get it with Jamaal Jackson.

Fraley is listed as 6'2", 300 pounds. Jackson is 6'4" and more like 330 plus pounds. In addition the Eagles can pay Jackson a lot less. (Always a prime Eagles concern!) Fraley was a seven year veteran and therefore warranted a much fatter pay check than third year player Jamaal Jackson (no I don't mean phat.)

So the Eagles get younger, bigger, stronger, cheaper and they stock-pile another draft pick.

For the Browns, they get a relatively cheap replacement for LeCharles Bentley for 2006. Houston no doubt would have put a waiver claim on Fraley had the Eagles simply cut him. So this was pretty much the Browns only way to acquire him.
