It's always a week by week thing, because if I said USC and Notre Dame, and they both were 6-4 headed into the game than obviously it wouldn't be as big of a deal.
The week 1 games i'm looking forward to are
Southern Miss @ Florida (Only because i'm a Gators fan, hopefully it's over by halftime because I don't want to have some opening day stress.)
California @ Tennessee (Now this is a matchup of my pick to win the Pac 10, and one of many teams that could win the SEC. It isn't as highly touted as it should be, but I feel that it will be a hard fought game. I like Cal's front four, and I feel that they will be able to pressure Ainge into making some bad decisions and Cals running game will cash in. It will be close, but the Bears will get a huge SEC road win just like USC got in 2003, which will lead to a national title game apperance.)
BYU @ Arizona (This is one of those games, where I don't think there is a clear favorite. I like Arizona to improve this year, and contend in the Pac 10. BYU is one of the nations top 10 mid-majors. I think this game goes either way, but if BYU picks it up it will be a huge win for them. The Cougars are one of those teams that can just as easily go 3-0, as 0-3 with their non-conference.)
Boston College @ Central Michigan (upset alert, I know BC won at BYU last year and CMU is a much weaker team, but CMU will want to put on a good show for their home crowd)
Minnesota @ Kent St. (For the first time in many years, they will have a weaker running game. Cupito has had enough problems with players like Maroney, and Barber III running for him. Now with even Russell gone the Gophers are ripe for a week 1 upset, let alone being on the road against a MAC team who has struggled the last few years and is looking to make a statement)
Nevada @ Fresno St. (Potentially the WAC championship game, I personally think it is because Boise St. will finally make a fall this year. Both of these teams, on paper, are way better than the Broncos.)
Utah @ UCLA (This is one of those rare times where the BCS conference team is an underdog at home against a mid-major. UCLA has homefield advantage, and Chris Markey will have a breakout game kicking off his breakout season. With that said, Utah will pick up the big win on the road against a BCS conference team that they lack in 2004.)
Northwestern @ Miami U (After the death of HC Randy Walker, it will be interesting to see how both of these teams respond. Walker was a Miami U alum. Northwestern though could come out either completely flat, or use it at motivation and blow out the Red Hawks. I don't know what will happen, hopefully the game is televised because it should be interesting to watch.
