I know of only two photos that show Fenway Park set up for the Boston Patriots and a couple of photos of college games ... does anyone have any scarce photos of the Pats (or the Boston Yanks or Boston Redskins) playing at Fenway Park or the Patriots playing at Nickerson Field or Boston College or Harvard Stadium?

Braves Field and Alumni Stadium are from Patriot games. I was at the game at Alumni when the stands caught in fire (Pre-season versus the Redskins)

Wrong ... the photo of Braves field wasn't taken when the Pats played there, since the grandstand behind home was torn down in 1958, two years before their first game in 1960 ... that pic was one of Braves Field set up for a Boston College football game

No Jury Box. No outfield fence. The streetcars behind the pavillion and grandstand are from the late 40s/early 50s.

That has to be BU not BC playing. It's either 1953 or 1954, after the Braves sold it to BU and before they demolished the bulk of the stadium to create the new Nickerson Field.

Didn't they want to build a dome in Boston sometime in the late 60's?

Twice. First was in the 60s and revived in the 90s when the Patriots were in between threats to move. Both deals fell through.

The team almost had a deal to move to Hartford around '98 and '99. That plan for Hartford was modified into Rentschler Field.

Does anyone have renderings of these dome ideas?

Wow I had seen that before but thought it was only for baseball. Glad they didn't go with that!

Intention was for both to play in there...they both played in Fenway at the time(1965).

I can't decide if they were copying the expo's dome or the cowboys dome lol. Either way Im still glad they didn't go with this idea!

Neither. It was another design altogether.

One proposal I was reading about was that the Patroits would move to a high school stadium that would be expanded to NFL standards.

I might be the only one in the universe who felt this way, but I loved the old stadium. The new one is stunning but there was an ineffable quality to the old one that just made me enjoy the game that much more

From what I have heard about foxburo stadium, it wasn't even close to gilette other than tradition. The bleacher seating that would freeze, the lack of luxary boxes, and the small amount of seats were all reasons why the patriots were going into debt. Plus the fact that most stadiums attract live music concerts, but no one wanted to go to foxburo from what I read.

That being said, I grew up and still live in Tampa and as great as the new stadium is, I so understand the old tampa stadium had something unique about it that I miss every now and then.

I love the sense of humor on the Pats site!

"It is not uncommon to see fans rush the field after a big game. But, it was a little different to see fans take the field during a game. On Aug. 16, 1970 at Boston College, Patriots fans were forced from the stands due to a fire that ignited under the bleachers.

When the game resumed, the Redskins torched the Patriots 45-21 in the preseason opener. Boston College’s Alumni Stadium was "home" to the Patriots during the 1963 and 1969 seasons."
