Jeff George, famous/infamous QB of yesteryear, was signed by the Raiders today. This isn't just one of those one-day sign and retire contracts. This is for real.
Aaron Brooks hasn't looked good this pre-season or his whole career for that matter. Is there a chance Jeff George who has been out of football for five years could be the starting QB on opening day?
What does this mean for Andrew Walters?
What does this mean for the Raiders? Has Art Shell up and lost his mind?

I can't see George contributing to this Raiders team right now. The guy hasn't thrown a pass in an NFL game in 5 years!!

Walters is dealing with a shoulder problem at the moment. I'd hope that George is signed as insurance in case Walters needs to miss significant time.

Actually, Moss is one player that lobbied for George to be signed. George has always had a very strong arm, and apparently still does. He isd able to unload and let Randy do what he does best, sprint downfield past everyone and catch the deep ball. I can't really see George getting too much playing time though.
Either Walter is a lot more hurt than the Raiders are letting on, or they are trying to fire up Brooks to play better by bringing in competition.
