I voted for Brett Favre again (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Brett_Favre.shtml). He holds pretty much every major counting record, and however overrated counting stats may be, they still have to be worth something. I've got him #2, but #4 isn't that bad.

I went with Favre (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Brett_Favre.shtml), too. The counting records can't be ignored, and did also win a superbowl, which is what really separates him from someone like Marino (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Dan_Marino.shtml).

One thing you have to take into account when looking at Favre's (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Brett_Favre.shtml) stats is that he played in Green Bay, and a lot of that was done in cold weather, and he still managed to keep a 61% completion rating.

Of course, Elway (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/John_Elway.shtml) did play in cold weather, too, so if you are differentiating the too, this might not do it for you.

I voted for Elway (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/John_Elway.shtml) again because, as I mentioned in the previous ranking thread, he seemed less prone to the bad lapses in judgement Favre (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Brett_Favre.shtml) would have from time to time. But it is pretty close and I certainly would not be dissatisfied with Favre (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Brett_Favre.shtml) beating him out for this spot.

I voted for Peyton Manning (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Peyton_Manning.shtml). Favre (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Brett_Favre.shtml) currently holds most of the important counting records but, barring injury, Peyton (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Peyton_Manning.shtml) may break them all.

Also, Manning (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Peyton_Manning.shtml) is the all-time leader in passing yards per game (260.2 yards/G) and second all-time in passer rating at 94.7 (Steve Young (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Steve_Young_01.shtml) is #1 at 96.8)

I have a hard time with passer rating. It really doesn't equate well across eras. 16 of the top 20 of all-time are still playing. While being #2 is nice, it doesn't compare well with historical QBs

It also greatly favors good weather QBs. Peyton (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Peyton_Manning.shtml) is at 94.7 (#2) and Favre (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Brett_Favre.shtml) at 85.7 (#19). but how much of that difference can be attributed to Peyton (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Peyton_Manning.shtml) playing home games in a dome, and Favre (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Brett_Favre.shtml) in Green Bay? Hard to say.

I agree Peyton (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Peyton_Manning.shtml) will have most (if not all) the records before he is done. It is just too early for me to put him above Favre (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Brett_Favre.shtml), although I can very easily see him passing Favre (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Brett_Favre.shtml) on my list by the time his career is over.

Peyton (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Peyton_Manning.shtml) certainly isn't a bad pick, I have trouble with the guys still playing

One more day left. There will be one or two names added to the next poll. I'm thinking Fouts (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Dan_Fouts.shtml) and/or Aikman (http://www.football-almanac.com/players/Troy_Aikman.shtml). Anybody else have any opinions?

That is fine, but I'm wondering how long this is worth doing? With 4 voters and 2 votes winning...

I'll keep voting if you keep posting, but the rsults are hardly statistically sound.

As long as it's multiple votes, I'll keep posting. When this site grows, I'll probably run this again. But for now, I don't mind the low vote totals. And I'm planning to stop after the top ten anyway.
