Charlie Adams as been dealt to the Cowboys. They need depth at WR. And obviously, we have plenty of depth, so we can send guys away

Not that Adams is the new Rod Smith. But the Broncos, trading wide receivers? Seems a little odd to me.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Charlie Adams is on the move.

After a training camp that saw him drop to the fifth team after serving as the team's No. 3 wide receiver for much of 2005, the Broncos dealt him to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for an undisclosed draft choice Thursday.

Adams started two games and played in all 18 regular- and postseason contests last year. he finished the regular season with 21 receptions for 203 yards and no touchdowns, while adding another 133 yards on 16 punt returns and 218 yards on 10 kickoff runbacks.

His work in 2005 marked the culmination of three years of work to make it into a regular spot on the active roster. He'd spent chunks of 2002 and 2003 on the practice squad, and only played in four regular-season games in both 2003 and 2004, with his work coming almost exclusively on special teams. He was released and re-signed four different times by the Broncos over his years with the club.

That gave him a keen insight to the vagaries of the football industry.

"You really can see how the business is in the game, as well as the turnover rate," Adams said in the offseason. "Sometimes, you'll just sit back and talk about all the people that have been here over the years; it's just crazy."

Now, Adams is moving on to another venue for the first time as a pro.
