View Full Version : How healthy is Holmes?
While the emergence of Larry Johnson was absolutely huge for the Chiefs, undoubtedly making Dick Vermeil cry a lot, having a healthy Holmes gives the Chiefs a lot of versatility. Any word on whether or not he can do much this season?

His career is over. Larry Johnson's main backup is now Michael Bennett -- former Minnesota stud RB turned back up. In addition to Bennett the team is also carrying Dee Brown and Quentin Griffin. Brown will probably be the third running back. Griffin might stick around as a special teams player or be placed on the practice squad.
New Head Coach Herm Edwards has no loyalties to Holmes and the last I heard Holmes injuries were so severe that if he even attempted to play again he might permanently endanger his ability to even walk.
Priest had a good run but it's over.

Today the obvious became official, Priest Holmes is done for the year.
He was deactive and on the PUP list (physically unable to perform) and today was the last day to remove a player from the PUP list in order to activate that player for this season. He wasn't and hence his season is lost.
There is talk about a comeback in 2007. Stranger things have happened but Holmes has lost so much time and the Chiefs already have Larry Johnson and Michael Bennett at running back.
If the team is really serious about him having a comeback I think they owe it to him to trade him somewhere he can start -- perhaps to the New York Jets or Giants or to the Tennessee Titans or Houston Texans.
