Andy Reid is entering his 8th season as Head Coach of the Philadelphia Eagles. In the last 7 years he has amassed a record of 70 and 42 -- with seven post-season wins and five post-season losses.
All this time he's been head coach Reid has refused to do the one thing that would win the Eagles the Superbowl -- no I don't mean find a power running back and balance out the offensse. He won't shave that moustache!
A moustache on a head coach is a virtual death knell for a NFL team. Sure I know Bill Cowher won the Superbowl last year and he has a moustache but he had a power moustache and a power running game, too -- Jerome Bettis.
In the last 20 years only 3 head coaches have won the Superbowl while sporting a Moustache. And the other two Mike Holmgren and Mike Ditka also had power moustaches and running games to go with them -- see Walter Payton and Dorsey Levens.
Think about it for a minute and it all becomes obvious. Let's list the head coaches who have won Superbowls in the last 20 years:
1986 Mike Ditka - moustache
1987 Bill Parcells - no moustache
1988 Bill Walsh - no moustache
1989 George Seifert - no moustache
1990 Bill Parcells - no moustache
1991 Joe Gibbs - no moustache
1992 Jimmy Johnson - no moustache
1993 Jimmy Johnson - no moustache
1994 George Seifert - no moustache
1995 Barry Switzer - no moustache
1996 Mike Holmgren - moustache
1997 Mike Shanahan - no moustache
1998 Mike Shanahan - no moustache
1999 Brian Billick - no moustache

That means teams coached by men with a moustache only won the Superbowl a horrible 15% of the time during the last 20 years.
But this insidious plot goes back further than that:
Vince Lombardi - 2 Superbowl Championships - no moustache - but Jim Taylor.
Chuck Noll - 4 Superbowl Championships - no moustache - but Franco Harris.
Bill Walsh - 3 Superbowl Chapionships - no moustache - but Roger Craig.
Tom Landry - 2 Superbowl Championships - no moustache - but Tony Dorsett.
Joe Gibbs - 3 Superbowl Championships - no moustache - John Riggins & George Rogers.
When you factor in Lombardi's 2 SBs, Noll's 4 SBs, Walsh's other 2 SBs, Gibbs' other 2 SBs and Landry's 2 SBs and the percentage goes down to 9% of teams coached by a man with a moustache winning the Superbowl!
So in all fairness I think we as Eagles fans should demand that Andy Reid shave his moustache -- for the good of team, so the team can have a decent chance to win the big one!
That or develop a power running game -- one of the two.
