Losman all but named the starter for 2006 by Jauron. I think that is a good thing. Sink or swim and then we can get on with it. I don't understand why he was pulled the other night when he was, especially with the vote of confidence today.

Kelly Holcomb is a much better QB than Losman, I guess that had to honor that Top 20 pick.

You're right it's time to sink of swim with Losman. Since Jim Kelly retired we've had a long line of QBs: Todd Collins, Doug Flutie, Rob Johnson, Alex Van Pelt, Drew Bledsoe, Kelly Holcomb. And they've all been past their prime former stars or career back ups with little upside and they've all been failures.
Losman and his quirky mechanics is the hope of the franchise. It's time to let him play. Line him up with Willis McGahee & Lee Evans and see if these players are going to take the franchise anywhere or find out if we're still just spinning our wheels.
Losman definitely has receivers to throw to: Lee Evans, Josh Reed, Andre' Davis, Peerless Price. And Shaud Williams has great hands for a running back. There is little reason Losman shouldn't take a giant leap forward this year.
I still think taking Safety Donte Whitner in the first round was a huge mistake. They should have moved up from the 8th overall pick and taken TE Vernon Davis. And if they couldn't do that than they should have taken TE Mercedes Lewis or OL Winston Justice with the 26th pick.
If any quarterback is going to be successful he's going to need a good offensive line -- which the Bills need to upgrade -- and a TE who can block and pose a threat in the middle of the field.

Duke Davis (living in Maryland, it's hard to call him Vernon) is highly overrated. Above average, definitely. Solid, sure. Top 10 pick? No.

49ers took Davis with the 6th overall pick to give their young QB with quirky mechanics, Alex Smith, a big target to hit and another blocker.

You have to go with someone young. Recycling talent through the minor leagues and eliminating old expensive players is the secret to small-market baseball teams' success. I'd love to see the Bills win with Losman.
