When did it happen for the first time?

Do you mean on the same team? Or in the same season?

As the question is asked I believe the answer would be 1947: Spec Sanders for the (Yes they existed) NY Yankees and Steve Van Buren for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Of course Sanders played in the AAFC and Van Buren played in the NFL ....

I'm not sure what you're asking.

Do you mean on the same team? Because that's Larry Csonka and Mercury Morris in 1972. And I believe it's only happened twice since then.

What year did the NFL have two players (any team) who rushed for more than 1,000 yards in the same season?

1949: Steve Van Buren, Philadelphia Eagles; Tony Canadeo, Green Bay Packers.

The first time it happened on the same team... was indeed the 1972 Dolphins!
