I have a feeling the Bengals will be down this year.
I'm totally have faith that they will get in the playoffs. And by that time, Palmer should be healthy (I Hope) and lead this team to a Super Bowl. Also the Bengals need to utilize the running game. If Marvin does what he needs to do, he can win (of course, this can be said about 31 other coaches).

Since the Pistons, Red Wings, and Tigers are all going to finish in first place in 2006 (reg. season, anyways), the Lions and Michigan will follow in their footsteps and prove that the world really is coming to an end. At least we went out on top!

Great during the regular season, and fizzle out in the playoffs. The Lions might go 14-2 then lose in the first round, and worst of all, Michigan loses to the Buckeyes again! :)

Great during the regular season, and fizzle out in the playoffs.

That's the Red Wing motto! And them Pistons really blew their shot at another title, it may be years before we get that good again. Let's hope the Tigers win it all, just to dispell such a curse on Motor City Sports.

The Lions might go 14-2 then lose in the first round...

Well of course. The friggin' Lions could go 16-0 and still lose in the first round! After so many crappy years, I think most Lions fans would be happy with a playoff berth, at least for Marinelli's first season anyways. I can't believe it took Matt Millen six years to get to this point.

...and worst of all, Michigan loses to the Buckeyes again! :)

Not a chance in Hades, sorry. U-M is perhaps the only team in the state that is consistantly good. We can always count on them, especially against a weakling such as the Luckeyes.

If only Lloyd weren't in such hot water that he has to beat OSU this year. Don't see my Bucks pulling that one out sadly. Although I am amazed at the still gaudy showoffishness of Michigan fans despite the last 5 years. Would assume they will win in '06 but until November we're still on top 4-1.

I have to admit I havent payed a lot of attention to football so far (baseball season is in full force, you see...) so I'm going purely on instinct here.

Super Bowl champs: Broncos (I've predicted them the top prize for 12 years straight and been right twice :) )

Finalists: Panthers (why not?)

AFC east: Patriots
AFC south: Indy
AFC west Broncos
AFC North: Steelers (they'll do the opposite of what they did last year. Good in the regular season, bow down early in the playoffs)

Wildcards: Jacksonville and Kansas City

NFC east: Giants
NFC south: Panthers
NFC north: Vikings
NFC west: Seahawks

Wildcards: Redskins and Bears

College football:

National champs: BYU (no chance, I know, but I'll root for them anyway)

Vanier Cup champions (Canadian college football championship): Les Carabins de l'Université de Montréal

I was in Dallas last week and after their preseason win over the Seahawks the fans seem really up. And I'd have to agree with them. 12-4 for "America's team" this year?

Packers winning the NFC North -- interesting considering the team has a 36 year old broken down quarterback who threw 29 interceptions last year. After last season the entire coaching staff was purged and new head coach and coaching staff was put in position. Those coaches brought with them a whole new offense that Brett now has to learn. This is the first time he's had to do this since he first came to the Packer's and learned Holmgrens/Sherman's version of the west coast offense.

I think it's safe to say the Packers will win about 4, maybe 3 games this year. Chicago will carry the NFC North with a dominante defense and an offense carried by running back Thomas Jones. He'll likely top the 1,300 yards he rushed for last season. And all Griese or Grossman or whoever the quarterback will be is just not throw too many interceptions and let Lovie Smith guide the team to a second straight playoff appearance.

But the rest of the picks look solid -- except AFC East -- but that's a pick from the heart so I can understand that.

Though I also have to disagree with the Redskins losing the Superbowl. They're 2006's team of destiny -- as long as Clinton Portis can play. If not, all bets are off!

I don't follow NFL all that much in the off season. Right now is prime time baseball season. But something in me says the Favre will give it one last shot. We'll come back to this thread, I'm sure, at the end of it all.

I'm sure he will give it one last shot. I'm sure he'll give it everything he's got. I just don't think he's got enough left to manage more than 3 to 4 wins. But I could be wrong. It did supposedly happen once before. :)

Did you see his press conference the other day when he said he's been spending too much time trying to bring other players up and make them better players and that he's just not good enough to do that anymore? And that he was going to just concentrate on his own play from now on?

He looks tired and he looks broken. I don't know why he came back. I don't think he does at this point either. I wouldn't be surprised to see an in-season retirement. Or an in-season change from Favre to Rodgers at QB -- which might lead to an immediate team improvement.

I thought Thomas Jones was demoted to second-string? I think both he and Cedric Benson are equally talented, and it wasn't fair at all to Jones that the Bears even drafted Benson last year. Jones has done nothing but kick butt for them every year he's been in the Windy City, and now he's getting squeezed out. Your prediction could easily be true, however. You just have to substitute Jones name for Benson. That defense will carry most any offense to the playoffs.

I'll re-open this thread, since the end is near (of the season, that is).

Dang, I killed my NFC picks. I picked my Lions to win the North, what a joke! My AFC picks aren't so bad, and neither are my college picks. I must have accidentally hit the "L" button when I was trying to hit the "O" button, other than that it's pretty close. I think I'm one of the very few who picked Michigan to do anything, but that could also be chalked up to my hometeam devotions (ala the Lions win the North selection). And you know what, I'm probably crazy enough to pick them to win it again next year, lol.

My picks:

Super Bowl champ: Patriots! Possibly. Hopefully.
Super Bowl loser: Cardinals I'm stupid.
AFC North: Bengals- 13-3 (Ravens- 11-5 WC) Got the teams switched.
AFC South: Colts- 12-4 (Jaguars- 10-6 WC) I might hit this one exactly!
AFC East: Patriots- 15-1 Right team, wrong record.
AFC West: Chargers- 10-6 Ditto above.
NFC North: Bears- 8-8 Ditto above.
NFC South: Falcons- 10-6 (Panthers- 9-7 WC) I honestly didn't think the Saints would be any good.
NFC East: Redskins- 11-5 Shut up.
NFC West: Seahawks- 9-7 (Cardinals- 8-8 WC) Switch Cardinals and 49ers, and I might get this one.

College Football
1. Ohio State Bingo!
2. Notre Dame Hmmm. No.
3. USC Close.
4. Oklahoma Maybe!

I think God hates my favorite teams (beside the Buckeyes). Lets see, the Reds gave me hope but God took it away in the last week. The Bengals looked for sure that they would be in the playoffs, God blew a lot of wind at the special teams. The Blue Jackets can't seem to get a call to go their way, maybe God is paying the referees. The Bearcats (Basketball) looked like they were good enough to go to the Big Dance, God smites them. I feel so lonely right now.

Dear God,
**you shouldn't drop in on other people's prayers"

Amen.

By the way, I had only 3 sub .500 picks this year in Pro Football Pick 'em. A new record for me with an overall percentage of 60.55% asuming Green Bay wins tonight.
