Daunte might get the opening day start for the Dolphins. This is huge for the team if he's back to even 80% by opening day.
Will Daunte be ready?

I thought he was pretty much healed? Did something happen to him that I don't know about?

Consensus before camp was that he'd be out till at least mid-season. His comeback in so short a time is amazing.
His comeback at all is amazing -- 10 years ago this injury would have ended his career.

Well, I say about mid-season and I pray he does good for the terrible dolphins.

So much has changed since this thread started. Daunte played opening night but he sure wasn't ready to. He has since been benched in favor of Lions' castaway Joey Harrington. Cleo Lemon is listed as No. 2 QB on the Dolphin's depth chart and Daunte has fallen all the way to No. 3.
The Dolphins are 1-6. I think most pundits in the pre-season would have predicted the opposite record.
Harrington isn't exactly making the most of his second chance to be a starter in the NFL. The Dolphins have lost all his starts. He currently sports a 64.1 QB Rating and has thrown only three touchdowns as opposed to seven interceptions.
Is it just me or does it seem like ever since Dan Marino retired that Miami is where quarterbacks go to die? Last year it was Gus Frerotte, before him A.J. Feeley, before him Jay Fiedler, before him Damon Huard, not to mention Ray Lucas, Sage Rosenfels, Scott Zolak and Brian Griese. Now we can add the names of Daunte Culpepper, Joey Harrington and Cleo Lemon.
Although, I still think Culpepper is going to bounce back once he's fully healthy and be a productive player again, just maybe in 2007 or 2008.
