The single greatest player in franchise history retires Monday. He spent 17 seasons in the NFL, all but the end with with the Chargers. He was selected to 12 Pro-Bowls.
He will surely be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. In San Diego he's revered like a god. And he had a fairly decent restuarant for a few years back in the late 1990s.
But on the field he was as great a linebacker as ever played the position. He was a dynamic force, game-changing, a play-maker of the highest magnitude -- as good as Lawrence Taylor and maybe better than Ray Lewis.

He won't sign one of those 1 day contracts so he can retire with the Chargers?

I really don't see the point in doing this...I don't see the big deal in who you retire with.

You basically give your life to a team. you want to be treated like royalty for at least one day for your contributions. you want to end with a good relationship so that at future events you can be your team's historical rep

I was going to reply but it seems kind of a moot point, given this report.
Junior Seau may not be retiring after all. According to a report in the San Diego Union-Tribune, two league sources confirmed that Seau will meet with the New England Patriots this week and could sign a deal with the team.

Took Seau three days to un-retire. Some guys just don't know when to give it up. He's 37. He's probably going to be expected to start -- due to the injury problems in New England. I think he's going to get burnt and it's going to be ugly. He should have retired three seasons ago as a Charger.
But instead he went to Miami and play mediocre and now it's going to get worse in New England -- unless they protect him in a rotation and he doesn't play many minutes.

After hearing his press conference, he sounded too fired-up to retire.
Ps: I am the only on online right now!

Should have retired years ago as a charger, but no......his whole legacy is based in san diego, he even owns a restaraunt down here for crying out loud. Had he been able to retire as a charger things would have been great, hopefully he pulls a rice after this season and does so.
