If anything happens to Eli the Giants are done for the season. Tim Hasselback? He's no where near good enough to even manage an offense and let the defense carry the team. How have the Giants put the organization in a situation in which one play could effectively end the season?
This team should have found an effective back up QB in the off-season. And guys were available, Jeff Garcia, Mike McMahon, Jon Kitna, Joey Harrington.

All the guys you mention wanted to go to places where they could be starters.
